Set within the Lake District National Park (a World Heritage site), our 4 person, 2 bathroom lodge is in its own stone walled garden, on the edge of the 9 acres of the private, beautifully landscaped Aynsome Manor Park. Set around the fish-ponds of the monks' of Cartmel Priory, it also adjoins Aynsome Manor Hotel, a Georgian House with a much acclaimed restaurant.

Its peaceful setting is characterised by stream fed ponds, ducks, ancient trees, old stone walls and cottages, an orchard and beautiful views of the Cartmel Valley and the hills of Hempsfell.

I Km away over the fields is the ancient village of Cartmel, a foodie paradise with a wonderful dominant Priory, a racecourse, shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, including the Michelin 2* restaurant, L'Enclumé. Grange-over-Sands is 3 miles away, with a wider range of shops and a unique promenade walk by the sea.

Walks abound locally (a lot of Limestone pavement), and horse riding hire is also available within 10 mins walk, but both Lake Windermere and the sea are only 4.5miles away, and there are plenty of Historic Houses near by to visit such as Holker Hall, Sizergh, Levens and Blackwell House.

There are also an abundance of pretty villages and towns.

Grange-over-Sands

Cartmel is a beautiful ancient village, with a dominant 12th Century Priory, market place and numerous pubs, restaurants and shops. The Cartmel racecourse is immediately adjacent to the village and has 4 race meets a year.

There is a Londis shop for essentials. The walks all round Cartmel, and from Aynsome Manor park, especially over Hempsfell with stunning views over Morecombe Bay and towards the mountains of The Lake District, are unmissable. There are plenty of guides to them in the Lodge, and all the maps you will need.
