Home description
The cottage has a comfortable family lounge in which to relax and a separate t.v. area. This can be used as a playroom for children. It is centrally situated for all the sites, history and activities of Normandy, and glorious beaches are only a short drive by car. Children might like to spend a day at the local pony-club, while a visit to the local cider farm is a must for adults.
The private garden is ideal for relaxing with a glass of wine or the local cider, and is fully fenced so that small children can play safely. There are chicken and ducks at the bottom of the garden which children may like to help feed, and collect the eggs which we supply free of charge to our guests. We also have horses, goats and donkeys, and one of the donkeys is happy to give rides in fine weather.
There is a swing-seat,hammock, garden furniture and barbecue in the garden, and a play-tent and paddling pool for the children. There are also indoor games and toys to suit children of all ages. We now specialise in holidays for families with babies and under 5's.

The Normandy / Calvados region
There is a wealth of history in the area, from the Landing Beaches to William the Conqueror's castle. Summer temperatures here are generally warmer than in England, and the hour in advace makes the evenings light until after ten p.m. The market at St.Pierre sur Dives( 10 minutes by car) is the largest in the area and is held on Monday morning, and the Saturday market at Falaise is well worth a visit. There are many antiques fairs and " vide greniers" , which are like a car boot sale, held in the surrounding towns and villages at weekends.
Grandmesnil area
Grandmesnil is a small village nestling at the bottom of a ridge. There are no shops in the village, but Trun ( 5 minutes by car) has shops, bars and a supermarket. Larger supermarkets can be found at Argentan and Falaise, both about 15 minutes by car. Argentan has a direct rail link to Paris, and a day trip to the capital is a great day out. There are impressive firework displays held locally in June and July, and all the local villages hold their own "fete" at some time in the summer months.
