Home description
Le Feu is only 2 minutes by car from the beautiful historic village of Samoens and has been tastefully restored providing excellent accommodation whilst retaining the authentic charm of the Savoyard farmhouse. All apartments have a large open plan lounge /dining /kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and WC. We occupy the fifth apartment and are available for help and advice if required.
The farmhouse is along a quiet cul-de-sac which is totally safe for children. In the summer the large garden with picturesque lily pond provides a peaceful setting for BBQ's, sunbathing, table tennis, badminton and relaxing. It is also ideal for sledging and fun in the snow in the winter. Adjacent to the farmhouse we have a large private car park.
Le Feu is an ideal location for all who enjoy the outdoors either sightseeing in the surrounding area ( Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix only 1 hour drive) or enjoying the local amenities and activities of the village and Giffre valley and the Grand Massif Ski area.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Samoens is situated in in the Rhone Alps within one hour's drive of Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix. The area is one of outstanding beauty and charm with stunning alpine scenery, medieval towns ( eg 14th century Yvoire on the shores of Lake Geneva ), castles, museums and gardens. It is usually hot and sunny in the summer and also boasts a very snow sure record in the winter because of it's proximity to Chamonix and the Mont Blanc range . In June the alpine meadows provide a multicoloured carpet of wild alpine flowers and in the autumn as the cooler weather returns the trees are ablaze with autumnal browns gold and orange.
Grand Massif / Samoens area
The village of Samoens is a listed historic site and holds a 'Coq d'Or ' award as one of the 5 most beautiful villages in France. The Giffre river cascading from Sixt through spectacular gorges to Samoens which nestles in the mountains provides a magnificent holiday centre.
In summer it is a haven for outdoor activities of all kinds - Walking -Mountaineering - Rock climbing- Via Ferrata- Indiana Park - Paragliding - White water rafting - Canyoning - Cycling - Mountain biking - Golf - Tennis - Horse riding or just relaxing in magnificent scenery.
Samoens also has a lovely open-air swimming complex which is set in large gardens for picnics and is suitable for toddlers to expert swimmers as it has a toddler pool, leisure pool, slide into splash pool and racing pool. Lakes and gardens also add to the beauty of the village as well as some beautiful stone buildings which show the skill of the local Stonemasons of Samoens ( for which Samoens is renowned) . Samoens also has a large Botanical garden and many restaurants and bars where you can relax and enjoy village life.
Lac Bleu at Morillon ( 2kms) has a beach and lifeguard as well as trampolines, Indiana park and crazy golf to keep the youngsters happy.
In winter Samoens is alive with skiers enjoying the 260km of downhill skiing which the Grand Massif provides. This can be accessed from the village or Vercland ( 400m from Le Feu) . There is also ice skating on the covered open air rink in the village, 80 kms of beautiful cross country skiing, snowshoe walking on prepared trails as well as dog sledding and for the more adventurous ice climbing and ski mountaineering.
How to get there
By Air :
Geneva Airport (1hr drive). There are many airlines flying into Geneva and these include: Easyjet, Jet 2, British Airways, and Thompsonfly
There are many car hire companies including Avis, Hertz, Europecar, Alamo. Also it's possible to get a reasonable deal with a selection of companies from www.holidayautos.co.uk

Further details indoors: All apartments are heated by electric convectors all with individual thermostats.
The building has been renovated to retain the character of an old Savoyard farm with exposed beams and traditional thick walls whilst being very user friendly for the holiday needs of today.
Although not particularly designed for disabled people one of the apartments could be used by a partially disabled person ...i.e. no steps and quite easy access (Please enquire for more details).

A lovely fortnight on our 2nd visit to this special place.
