Home description
Ferme du Ciel has recently been lovingly converted from a giant Savoyard barn to a modern architectural showpiece of the highest standards. Whilst the renovation has retained the traditional charm of the farmhouse, contemporary interiors bring style & sophistication, with jaw-dropping triple-height glass windows showcasing spectacularly panoramic mountain views. Floors are tiled with under floor heating, traditional wood features are present throughout and the sleek open plan design blends ancient tradition with contemporary style. The chalet's six generous bedroom suites are individually styled, each with a super king sized bed, additional sofa bed, tv/dvd & stereo. Also boasting large private bathrooms with bathtubs & luxurious walk-in rain showers, you'll be far from cramped in your own spacious retreat.
The award winning French town of Samoens is a wonderful place to be; winter or summer. The Grand Massif provides opportunities for skiers of all abilities on it's snow sure slopes in the winter, and in the summer the area is a playground with varied activities to suit all.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Forget the rushing around you do at home. Come here and relax! Slow down and drink in the scenery in the beautiful Giffre Valley – noted in the French blue guide as “une des plus ravissantes des Alpes”. It is still a hidden gem, only slowly being discovered by the British, as there are no tour operators. It is tucked between the better known Morzine, and Chamonix – but without the crowds! We expect it to stay unspoilt as much of the valley is classified as “Parc Naturel” and the residents are very proud of its beauty.
Samoëns has been awarded a coveted Coq d’Or for being one of the prettiest villages in France, and is the only ski resort that has been classified by the Caisse des Monuments Historique. It remains true to its past as a thriving stone cutting centre, and you can still see many features from this time. It is an authentic farming town, and in the summer you may notice cattle strolling through the streets, their alpine bells jingling. The beautiful ancient church dominates the square with its medieval fountain and market area. This is the perfect place to claim your seat in one of the cafes and watch the world go by. There are some lovely quaint shops, and many activities are held throughout the year such as festivals, open-air concerts and craft fairs. The Wednesday market is a highlight of the week, with the array of local produce you would expect. The town boasts a variety of fine restaurants, ranging from traditional French Savoyard to Pizzerias and a number of cafes and bars. In the summer you can consider what to do next whilst sitting by the river or lake – or simply doze off, lulled by the sound of the water.
Grand Massif / Samoens area
Ferme du Ciel is fantastically situated for easy access to all winter and summer activities and those up for a challenge will really enjoy the choices the valley and the Alps offer. A wide range of seasonal pursuits are available for guests to enjoy; including skiing, snowshoeing and ice-skating in the winter or alpine walks, orienteering, mountain biking and a whole host of water and river orientated activities in the summer. Or you may prefer to relax and simply take in the stunning scenery around you!
If you have not been to the Alps in summer you will be amazed at how much there is to do.Normally known for its snowcapped peaks, the mountains are transformed by the carpets of flowers under blue skies and sunshine. The tinkling of cowbells, the birdsong, and distant chimes of the church bells are the only sounds to disturb the peace and tranquillity that surrounds you.
The area is a paradise for holiday makers – there is something for everyone. Enjoy the myriad of marked trails for walkers, or for the more energetic numerous routes for mountain bikes. If you prefer to let the horse do the work riding is available along the Giffre valley. The nearby lakes and rivers offer superb fishing, sunbathing or swimming, or for the adventurous there is whitewater rafting and canoeing through the gorges and down the rapids of the river Giffre; Or, you can look down on it all happening below you as you drift through the skies on your paraglider. Don’t hesitate to contact us for further details or for help in organising activities for you.
