Chalet La Valentine is a traditional wooden Savoyard chalet. It is a spacious, well equipped chalet with pine panelled walls and a fireplace for cosy evenings after a day's fantastic skiing in the Grand Massif ski circuit. The chalet is on the sunny side of the valley, with easy access to the lifts. Cross country skiing is practically at the chalet door. The chalet is 100 metres from the ski bus stop, 1 km from the Morillon télécabine and 3km from both of the Samoëns télécabines, which all connect into the vast Grand Massif with 265km of pistes, the third largest ski area in France.
In the summer the chalet is in the centre of all the local activities. It is not in an ideal location for a quiet retreat as the local leisure park, swimming lake, mini-golf, zip wire, pony riding, tennis and volley ball courts are only 250 metres from the chalet gates, across the road and a quick walk along the river. Shops, restaurants, the post office and bakery are all within a 5 minute walk, Morillon village centre is only 10 minutes away.
There are golf courses at Annecy (one golf course on the lake and one in the hills above), Les Gets and Flaine, all just a short drive away. You can play on the championship golf course at Evian golf club on the shores of Lake Geneva.
There are lakes to hire boats on, chateaus to visit, places to walk, mountains to ride bikes up, rock walls to climb, caves to pothole and fast rivers to go white water rafting on.

Booking periods are Saturday to Saturday. Arrival after 3 p.m, departure before 10 am.
Rental prices include all utilities, local Tourist Tax, wood for the fire and a full Linen pack.
The chalet is available for 2 to 10 guests plus cot. The price for the hire of the whole chalet is adjusted depending on the number of guests staying. Please enquire to the owner via email for confirmation of the letting price for the week you want.
A 25% deposit is required (100% if within 6 weeks of the start of your holiday) with all bookings before confirmation of your booking can be given. If you have to cancel, your deposit will be forfeited unless we are able to let the accommodation again.
The balance of the final invoice is payable in full 6 weeks before your arrival date along with a damage deposit cheque / phone bill allowance of £300. The phone costs are included in the price for international and local calls, but if the guests run up a large phone bill making calls to mobiles, this will be deducted from the damage deposit cheque before it is returned after the holiday.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
The chalet is in one of the widest valleys in the French Alps. It averages 25 centigrade in the summer with 10 to 11cm rain per month. The snow is reliable because of the Mont Blanc effect but with more sunny days than Chamonix because it is closer to Lake Geneva and the Jura mountains.
Skiing, walking, paragliding, white water rafting and mountain climbing are the main pursuits when on holiday, but sightseeing the chateaus and lakes and relaxing in the sun are also very popular.
The Grand Massif / Morillon area
The ski resort of Morillon is unspoilt and still retains a village atmosphere with no high rise development. The Grand Massif ski area links 5 resorts, Samoëns, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz and Flaine. It has 265km of piste, 5km of artificial snow, a summit of 2500m, 15 green, 53 blue, 51 red and 14 black runs. The superb 14 km long run from Flaine to Sixt (Les Cascades) has fine views, no noise and no queues. At the base of the run a regular ski bus takes you back to the main ski circuit. For those who want a challenge try the “Combe de Gers” a fantastic black run in a wide open bowl.
Lac Bleu is a leisure lake 300m from the chalet with beach and summer swimming and horse riding. Next to the lake is a tree top climbing adventure park (Zip Wire). You can play tennis or volley ball. The park’s café offers ice creams, a bar and restaurant service. White water rafting is available across the road from the park.
Morillon is in the centre of a group of mountain golf clubs and lakeside golf courses in France. Flaine, Les Gets, Avoriaz and those around lake Annecy are between a 20 - 45 minute drive from the chalet. Prices for a round of golf vary from 25 - 100 euros.
The villages in the GIffre Valley have Medieval churches, squares and streets. In the summer all the houses are decorated with hanging geraniums. Village markets hum with activity. It is an ideal place just to relax in the sun and take life as it comes. In the winter when snow lies on the valley floor, Christmas lights and decorations twinkle for the whole ski season.

The village of Morillon is probably the closest French Ski resort to the UK - just 50 minutes southeast of Geneva. It is just 17 easy kilometres from the Motorway exit at Cluses.
By Road:
It is possible to go all the way from Calais to just 17 km from the chalet using French autoroutes. Either from Calais or Zeebrugge, the journey is possible in just 7 to 8 hours.
By Train:
There is a TGV service to Cluses. You can get a local bus to the resort in the ski season, but out of season buses are few. We would recommend you hire a car mostly for help in going to the out of town supermarket on a self catering holiday.
By air:
The closest airport is Geneva. In the ski season, if you do not wish to hire a car, there are frequent public buses as well as many private companies providing mini buses to the ski resorts.

You can catch a train from Geneva to Cluses and then take a shuttle bus from the train station to the resort.

The property is very comfortable and very well equipped with everything you could need during your stay. It has a lovely fully enclosed garden, wonderful for barbeques and for children to play safely in. We stayed in the summer and there is so much to do. There is plenty of walking, chair lifts, cable cars, lovely lakes for swimming, zip wire parks, pony riding, bike riding and water sports. There are many beautiful places to visit by car. There are lots of places to eat within walking distance. The information booklet provided by the owner was full of useful information. We would definitely go there again. |

Just wanted to let you know what a fantastic week we had at Chalet la Valentine. The chalet was so well equipped we did not want for anything. The location and views were perfect. Both my parents and us all loved it. There was something to suit all......the Marvel run was fantastic, it was so lovely to go somewhere that you could spend more time skiing than on the lifts.

I ordered the skis etc from the Montagne Neige shop and have never experienced such good service in all the time that I have been going to France. They were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble despite having a pair of poles stolen while we were taking a 'lunch break'. He did not make a charge for the loss. Useful information for future guests. Once again - many thanks.

Thank you for letting us stay at you chalet last week. We had a fabulous time and it even snowed in Morillon!! My 4 year old daughter loved every minute of it. The exact rental rate depends on the number of people letting the property. Please enquire via email for an exact letting price from your party. The 10 person rate is the maximum rental - the 2 person rate is the minimum rental rate for those weeks.
25% deposit is required to secure the week and the balance is due 6 weeks before departure. A letting contract will be sent out upon receipt of the deposit to confirm the booking if required.
A refundable damage deposit of £600 is required 6 weeks before departure. It will only be refunded if the chalet is left in good order and the keys returned.
The phone is free for international calls, but excessive mobile calls which are expensive in France will be deducted from the damage deposit cheque.

Availability notes:
For the winter season 2010 / 2011 because both Christmas Day and New Year's Day fall on the Saturday, the letting over Christmas will be in 2 10 day blocks; one from 18.12.10 to 28.10.10 and the other from 28.12.10 to 8.01.11. The price for each block is £1500 for 6 people. For additional people up to a maximum of 10, it will be an additional £100 per extra person.
