Chalet Alderbaran
About the home
Nestled on a quiet south facing hillside, only 12-14 minutes walk from Samoens village centre, 8 minutes walk from the ski bus stop. Sleeping up to 10 people in 5 bedrooms/5 bathrooms, Chalet Aldebaran (named after a star) shines in every way possible. Decorated and designed with taste, in a modern and practical environment. Cosy nights in front of the log fire and relaxing afternoons in the Jacuzzi will leave you wanting to come back time and again.
As you enter the chalet the natural light makes the open plan lounge and dining area very inviting. The lounge has a comfortable leather sofa (which can be made into a bed) and arm chairs, positioned in front of a cosy log fire. Enjoy around 200 English and French TV channels on the large flat screen TV, there is also a DVD and video player as well as speakers which you can plug an iPod or MP3 device into.
The dining area seats 10 people comfortably and is directly next to the extremely well equipped kitchen compromising a Belfast sink, large fridge/freezer, modern oven and microwave, 4 ceramic hobs, coffee machine, kettle and toaster, as well as an abundance of utensils and cooking implements. You can comfortably cater for 10 people in this contemporary kitchen.
An east, south and west facing balcony skirts around the outside of the entrance level. On the west facing section there is a fantastic hot tub which is the perfect way to unwind after a long journey.
Directly next to the main entrance there is a large ski and boot room where you can leave your equipment and jackets to dry over night. There is a wall mounted boot warmer so you can enjoy warm and dry ski boots every day.
Three tasteful double en-suite bedrooms lead off the hallway on the upper level. All well designed and with plenty of storage space, two of the bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms whilst the third, larger bedroom, has a very nice en-suite Jacuzzi bath. All bedrooms on this floor benefit from balconies, one of which is south facing with superb uninterrupted views over the Samoens valley.
The upper level also has a well designed mezzanine area which overlooks the lounge and log fire, a great place to relax and read a book after a great day in the mountains. This leads onto another South facing balcony.
Downstairs from the lounge you will find an unexpected treat... an en-suite double bedroom with its very own kitchenette, sofa and dining table. The kitchenette is equipped with a modern oven, mini dishwasher, fridge and sink. This studio also has direct access to the garden and terrace.
Across the hall is the twin bedroom with clothes storage space which has an en-suite bathroom equipped with a Jacuzzi bath.
Finally on the lower level there is a large utility room which is equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer and an in house sauna to help loosen the muscles after a day skiing or mountain biking!
Chalet Aldebaran has a large private garden and large wooden decked area with tables and chairs, this area is south facing so benefits from sunlight all day long. There is a badminton set (including net) available which can be set up in the garden.
There is also a lockable garage just down the road (40m) from the chalet and your own private parking space outside the chalet.

In Winter, Samoens has one of the best snow records in the Alps in recent years. The ski area has 265km of pisite making it approximately the 5th largest resort in Europe. In summer there are endless activities from Climbing, mountain biking, rafting, golf, walking and hiking, and the average temperature is in the late 20's.
The Grand Massif / Samoens area
This spectacular and beautiful area is well geered up for tourists with all it has to offer, however it hasn’t been spoilt by tourism. Samoens has been awarded a ‘Coq d’Or’ for being one of the prettiest villages in France and is the only ski resort classified by the Caisse des Monuments Historiques. The villages are full of character and charm with quaint streets, yet still provides the centre for almost every outdoor activity imaginable.
Based in the beautiful valley of the Giffre river, the area provides spectacular scenery including mountain lakes, national parks and botanical gardens plus amazing wildlife and just minutes up the road at Sixt Fer a Cheval are over a dozen enormous waterfalls. It has a great deal to offer for families and individuals of all ages seeking adventure or alternatively just sheer relaxation.
There are numerous excellent restaurants, including bistros, gourmet, traditional French Savoyard and Pizzerias. A range of cafes and bars and numerous shops cater for all your needs, many of which are located around the historic square. There are typical French markets, beautiful churches, health and beauty parlours, cash points, doctors, chemists, a cinema, an ice skating rink, creche, swimming pools in summer, bakeries, supermarkets and everything else you would expect from well equipped mountain resorts. The Tourist Office puts on various entertainments in the village square ranging from kids' events to antique fairs throughout the year.
We are delighted to offer an exhilarating summer multi activity holiday between June and September. Please visit our website for more details and to request an itinerary. The Grand Massif Express lift is now open in summer as well as winter; this is fantastic news for walkers, bikers, paragliders and sports enthusiasts alike.
Winter facts….The Grand Massif is the 4th largest ski area in France and has one of the lowest lift to beds ratios…so much smaller queues than other well know resorts. Samoens now has a high speed lift from 1600m up to 2500m…this means less queuing, less time on the lifts and more skiing!
We are also offering some fantastic alternative activities in the winter, so if you are a non skier there are plenty of other exciting things to take part in, why not try our snow shoeing trip for example...a fantastic experience after which you can enjoy a delicious Savoyard meal in a Yurt on the side of the mountain!
There has never been a better time to holiday in the Samoens area, with an abundance of activities to choose from, breathtaking scenery to enjoy, a delightful village to explore and friendly locals to meet. Alps Accommodation are recommended in Good Ski Guide, Where to Ski and Snowboard and Lusso Luxury Lifestyle Magazine.
