About the home

This new 4 bedroom and 2 bathroom chalet is in a quiet location on the hillside above the village of Verchaix, near Samoens in the Grand-Massif Ski area.The ski area is the largest in France and is ideal for all levels of skiers. Only an hour from Geneva this chalet is in a stunning position with views to match and is perfectly placed for a skiing holiday. The chalet is 5 minutes from the ski lifts.

The chalet benefits from all modern facilities including underfloor heating, large log fire, modern fully equipped kitchen, wash room, satellite TV (English Sky TV), Wireles Broadband, satellite TV with DVD players on each floor, children friendly (stair gates/cots/high chair) and large balcony with BBQ.

Samoens is the only ski area in France designated as a national park.

For skiers in winter...

The Grand Massif ski area has 260km of great ski-ing, which also includes Flaine, Les Carroz and Sixt, each with the full range of levels of pistes. Cross country ski-ing is available in the valley. There are good nursery slopes and a choice of ski schools, with plenty of ski-hire shops. We have negotiated a discount for ski hire for our clients. The Porte Du Soleil ski area, accessed at Les Gets, is a 20 minute drive away and gives a further 650km of pistes for the more adventurous.

For the non-skiers there is snow shoe walking, ice skating and plenty of bars and cafes, on the pistes and in the villages in which to sit and enjoy the ambiance.

Summer Activities:

- Paragliding (you can jump off the mountain directly across the valley from the chalet!) – in summer time the skis will be full of Para gliders

- White Water Rafting – from anywhere in the valley there are loads of WW companies – kids love this

- Walking/hiking – particularly spectacular at the resort of Sixt (about 10 minutes from the chalet) – but also loads of walks directly from the chalet to the mountains and lakes behind

- Indiana Park – this is like an assault course through the trees for Adults and kids – there is a small one in Morillion and a large one by the lake in Samoens – kids will play on this for hours

- La Luge – A cross between sledging and the Luge – suitable for kids and adults and great fun – located in Morzine (about 25 mins from Chalet)

- Mountain Biking – there are trails all over the valley

- Samoens and Morillion lakes – provide lots of activities including – Tennis, Horse riding, Fishing, Quad Bikes, Archery, Golf (driving range), Trampolines and outdoor swimming pool

The Grand Massif / Samoens area

Mont Blanc – again around 50 mins from chalet, back to Cluses but take the A40 in the opposite direction from the airport and follow the signs to Chamonix. You can go on ski lifts up the mountain and a train ride. Chamonix is lovely and worth a visit.

Annecy - is about 50 mins from the chalet, go back to Cluse and take the A40 motorway that you came on back to the airport and Annecy is sign posted – this is an absolute must visit place. Annecy is more visited by the French than Paris and when you get there you will know why – its absolutely fantastic place. There are two main parts to Annecy, the Lake where you can walk and have lunch and dinner on a boat. And also the old part of Annecy which is just like Venice. Its great in this area, bars, restaurants, shops and really lively. For the best restaurant we have been to try the Brasserie opposite the ‘hotel de Ville’ -have anything from the menu its ace and the setting is just fabulous.

There is a festival in the valley lasting all summer with events in every town most days including concerts on the lake.

- Fly to Geneva with Jet2, Easy Jet and BA. The chalet is 45 Mins from Geneva.

- You must have a car when you get there so I use www.easyautos.co.uk – you pick up the car at the ‘National’ desk on the Swiss side

- Make sure you specify that you want the car on the Swiss not the French side (Swiss motorways are fantastic and if you use a French car on Swiss motorways the Swiss will charge you one years road tax on your way back to the airport!)

- When you get in the car make sure you have your passports handy for customs and Euros for the tolls.

“Loved living here, didn't want to leave” We have been lucky enough to live in this chalet for the last 10 months. The chalet is well equipped; dishwasher, washer, dryer, very fast internet, Sky HD (sports, movies etc), TV's / DVD player or SKY in 3 of the 4 bedrooms, tonnes of dvds, games and toys for the kids, gas bbq, garden furniture etc Garden furniture and bbq area is covered, so you can sit out and take in the views when its snowing. We've had family and friends over to visit; the room layout works really well for two families. All the visitors we had over, commented on how lucky we were to be living there. Its such a peaceful location with absolutely stunning views; there are loads of walks. The owners are extremely helpful, and quick to respond to any queries.
