About the home
Chalet Criou is a luxury chalet with superb views of the beautiful Vallee du Giffre. The chalet is only 1km from a choice of three telecabines which take you to the 265kms of skiing of the Grand Massif. The Navette bus stop is only 50m from the chalet.
An extremely comfortable chalet with spacious well furnished rooms, all with lovely views. In summer months it is wonderful to sit by the pool and enjoy the countryside around.
The chalet is primarily a self-catered chalet but if you don't feel like cooking it is possible to put you in touch with local companies who can arrange for evening meals for you or if you prefer even fully cater for you. We are also able to offer the services of a UK registered child minder, from half a day to a full week. She is also available for baby sitting.
We have also made contacts with several local companies and can offer guests discounts on ski lessons, ski hire and other outdoor activities.

The chalet has one double bedroom with en suite bathroom, twin bedroom with en suite shower room, two further twin bedrooms and a mezzanine with double sofabed and a large family bathroom . The chalet has a superb living/dining room with fireplace, satellite TV, video and CD player. There is also TV with video on the mezzanine. The kitchen is fully equipped with large fridge freezer, full size oven and four ring hob, dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
All the rooms have beautiful views of the Vallee du Giffre and the mountain of Criou, after which the chalet is named..

The house has two balconies and also a large covered veranda with table and chairs. The veranda has stairs leading to the garden and heated swimming pool. The pool has fencing round the decked area for safety for children and animals.
We have a barbecue and garden furniture.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
This is a truly unspoilt part of France. The beautiful old village of Samoens in the Giffre Valley has been a ski resort since 1912 and is the only one in France to be listed as a historical monument. The area is linked to Flaine and the other villages of the Grand Massif ski area and together they have 77 lifts serving 265km of piste. In the summer it is an area full of activities from walking to white water rafting.
In a recent Daily Telegraph ski Guide of the world's greatest offbeat resorts Samoens was chosen as one of the "skiers' choice".
The Grand Massif / Samoens area
Samoens has been awarded the Coq D'Or, an award for it being one of the most beautiful villages in France, it is also a "*** village fleurie". Samoens is only a couple of minutes drive from the chalet, and has some delightful restaurants where you can have a variety of food from a simple pizza, local Savoyard dishes, such as raclette and fondue and of course classic French.
During the winter months there is an open air ice rink and on Wednesday mornings there is a very good market.

The chalet is well laid out, and spacious compared to other ski chalets. The outside seating area has a perfect Alpine view and gets sun most of the day. We took two dogs which loved swimming in the nearby river. The town centre of Morillon was a short walk away & the bigger town of Samoens a short drive. The road leading to the chalet is quiet & safe - only a few local cars travel past each day. |

We ski most years but this was our first summer holiday in the Alps and Chalet Criou delivered in every way. Easy to book, easy to find, large and spacious. The accommodation over 3 floors really works and dinner on the balcony every night with "that view" ! I could watch the sun set over Criou mountain every night and never bore of it, just spectacular. The swimming pool is a real luxury and was used most days and the WiFi ensured that the children were connected to their virtual world. I am struggling to think of improvements that could be made. Highly recommended |
