This superb, newly built chalet apartment is situated in Les Carroz, France. Only an hour from Geneva, the Grand Massif ski area includes Flaine which boasts the best snow record of any non-glacial ski resort in the world.
The apartment has been finished to a very high specification with excellent use of timber and stone. Situated in a peaceful location, the centre of the traditional village of Les Carroz is just a ten minute walk away where one can enjoy interesting shops, pleasant pavement cafes, and the weekly market. From the balcony of the apartment there are wonderful views of the ski slopes, the surrounding mountains and forests, and the village of Les Carroz.
This bright, two-bedroomed apartment is located on the ground floor. Guests also have access to a private ski locker on the first floor. An excellent free shuttle bus takes you to the new high speed telecabine and ski-lifts which are just minutes away. The ski bus stops approx. 50 metres from the apartment at very regular intervals. This excellent location, coupled with the fact that the apartment is situated very near to the village sports centre with its outdoor heated swimming pools, tennis courts and leisure complex, make this apartment an ideal base for a winter or summer break. * Please note that the community swimming pool will be closed summer 2012 due to a five million euro upgrade.

The interior of this MGM apartment, which was completed in 2003, is well-equipped, attractive and atmospheric.
Lounge
The well-planned lounge has comfortable seating and dining areas and a fitted kitchen area. It is decorated and furnished to a high standard and is equipped with a TV with satellite television, DVD player and a CD player. Patio doors lead to the balcony which is furnished with a table and chairs. From there you will enjoy the wonderful views across the valley of the ski slopes, mountains and forests.
Bedrooms
Bedroom one is situated at the front of the building and there is a delightful view from the window. The second bedroom has a wooden floor and a built-in wardrobe. Both bedrooms in this apartment are cosy and well furnished.
Kitchen
The well-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, full sized oven, a four ring halogen hob and a full range of kitchenware.
Bathroom
The bathroom has a bath with shower, a heated towel rail, and a vanity cupboard.
Separate WC
Ski locker: A secure ski locker is located on the first floor.
Garage: A covered, secure parking space is available at a small extra cost.

Conveniently located just 150 metres fom the apartment is the leisure complex which is open from mid-June to end of August. This sports centre has outdoor heated swimming pools, changing / shower facilities, and a restaurant / bar. * (Please note that the swimming pool will be closed summer 2012 due to a five million euro upgrade.) Located here also are excellent facilities for the following activities: Beach Volleyball, Tennis, Archery, Crazy-Golf, Skateboarding, Mountain biking (VTT). There is also a delightful grassed area near the leisure complex for relaxing and picnics.
In keeping with Les Carroz's family friendly tradition, there is a creche (La Souris Verte) and a children's club (Les Petits Futés).
In winter, there is alpine skiing and snowboarding for all levels and abilities on 134 pistes - 13 green, 41 blue, 56 red and 15 black -covering 265 km, the highest point being 2500 m. There is a jam park for snowboarders. Also available: cross country and telemark skiing, snow shoeing, snow mobiling, ice-skating and dog-sledding, glacier hiking.
In summer, Les Carroz offers a wide range of activities to rival those in winter: mountain climbing, tennis, white-water rafting, mountain-biking, fishing, horse and pony riding at the nearby village riding school, archery, canyoning, paragliding, hot-air ballooning, hydrospeed, mini golf. There is a full 18 hole golf course at nearby Flaine. Other activities that can be sourced locally or in the immediate area include quad-biking, potholing and helicopter rides.
Walkers of all abilities will find much to interest them and enjoy, as 200 km of marked paths all over the Grand Massif area await exploration. These walks range from gentle gradients for those who wish to amble through alpine meadows and forests, to invigorating climbs and rugged terrain for the more active amongst us. Guests can also enjoy a number of excellent walks which depart from the area immediately adjacent to the apartment.
It is likely that your own transport will enhance your holiday in summer.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
Situated in the heart of the Haute-Savoie, one of the most scenic areas in the French Alps, Les Carroz has an excellent snow record due to its close proximity to Mont Blanc. A traditional French Alpine village, Les Carroz is one of five linked resorts which make up the huge (and aptly titled) Grand massif ski area. The other linked resorts include Samoens, Morillon, Sixt and Flaine. - The latter boasts the best snow record of any non-glacial ski resort in the world. There is an abundance of high quality skiing right on your doorstep with 265 km of pistes on offer making this area the 3rd largest resort in France. The 14km Cascades run (graded blue) is not to be missed! The 5km Marvel run (graded green) is great fun for beginners and families alike.
Les Carroz is within one hour's drive of the most interesting places to visit in the area such as Chamonix, Les Gets, Megeve, Geneva, Evian les Bains and Martigny (Switzerland). Visits to the historic town of Samoens, Annecy's wonderful lake and ancient city, the lakeside medieval town of Yvoire are also within 30-60 minutes of Les Carroz. In the summer, especially, day trips to Italy through the Mont Blanc tunnel are another delightful prospect for the visitor.
The Grand Massif / Les Carroz d'Araches area
Les Carroz enjoys a sunny location in the Grand Massif region of the French Alps. It is a family friendly, charming, authentic village which, due to its resident population, remains open all round. Village life in Les Carroz centres around the village square where one can enjoy interesting shops, pleasant pavement cafes, and the weekly market (every Tuesday).
In the winter, the Grand Massif is a skiers' paradise offering some of the best high altitude skiing in Europe. As one of five linked resorts, including Flaine, Samoens, Morillon and Sixt, it's no wonder that Les Carroz can offer an abundance of excellent skiing for all abilities.
In summer, this is a wonderful place for walkers and mountain bikers as it has hundreds of kilometers of marked paths in the valleys and foothills giving endless opportunities for exploring the high mountains. The sports complex with tennis courts and archery, three swimming pools and other facilities is situated directly opposite the apartment. In addition Lake Annecy offers every sort of water based activity in one of Europe's most beautiful settings. * Please note that the community swimming pool will be closed summer 2012 due to a five million euro upgrade.
Eating Out: There is a good range of restaurants in Les Carroz offering fine modern French cuisine, traditional Savoyard cooking and very good pizza.
Nighlife: As this is a family friendly resort, nightlife is low key and centres around a number of atmospheric bars, a dance club and a 2 screen cinema which shows English language films as well as French during high season.
Hot Air Ballooning: Every Feburary a magnificent hot air balloon festival is held in Les Carroz.

Travelling from Geneva Airport
If hiring a car, we recommend that you collect the car from the Swiss side of Geneva Airport. This is the easiest way to exit the airport. Follow the signs for France. Take the A1 heading towards the A40. You will then go through the border and, once through, follow the A40 for Chamonix. Leave the motorway at Exit 19 (Cluses) and take N205 towards Sallanches. Watch out for the sign for Les Carroz d'Araches! Turn left and take D6 to Les Carroz d'Araches.
Other access points for Les Carroz include Lyon Airport/St. Exúpery which is 200 km (2hr 30 min) away, as well as the airports at Chambery and Grenoble.
