The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The local area has recently been named one of the healthiest places in the world in which to live by the world health organisation and is a superb destination for holiday’s with its stunning scenery, beautiful beaches and wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The area is easy to get to, just a 10 minute drive from Alicante or 50 minutes from Murcia airport. There is a nature reserve which is popular for bird watching and walking, a nearby safari park, a shopping plaza, and makes a good base to explore the local caves, Island of Tabarca, Callosa mountains, the views from Guardalest, the Benidorm theme parks (Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia and the Mundo Mar marina animal park), Benidorm Zoo and excursions such as horse riding, a hot air balloon ride or jeep safari or even a day trip to Ibiza. It has a good choice of sporting activities from kite surfing to scuba diving. There are a number of championship golf courses within a short drive including the Bonalba golf resort and spa, and fishing trips are available from the Harbour. Nearby there are the resorts of Santa Pola and Alicante. Santa Pola is a traditional Spanish resort with long sandy beaches, while Alicante is historical yet cosmopolitan with a lovely harbour and promenade, the Santa Barbara castle, a number of museums and is good for shopping.
Gran Alacant / Altomar 1 area
The ideal destination for golfers, San Juan in Alicante designed by Severiano Ballesteros is only a ten minute drive, El Plantio in Elche about fifteen minutes, Alenda golf at Montforte Del Cid is about 20 minutes and the prestigious Bonalba Golf and Spa Resort is about a 20 minute easy drive. All courses are 18 hole, par 72 and prices start at 60 euros per person including buggy and can be pre-booked for you. The local beaches are blue flag award winners and stretch for miles uninterupted and there is a lovely promenade running along side the beach down to Los Arenelas which is a very popular place for the Spanish city workers to spend there holidays in July and August, There is a selection of shops, bars and restaurants opposite the Altomar complex and three other commercial zones in the Gran Alacant area which all have supermarkets, bars and a good choice of international cuisine.
How to get there
Gran Alacant is only a ten minute drive south from Alicante airport.
BMI Baby, British Airways, Easy jet, Ryanair, Monach, Thompson and Jet2 all offer cheap flights from the UK into Alicante and Murcia airports.

If you dont want to drive a car and chaufer can be hired for 80 euros per day plus petrol.
