Rock Cottage is a delightful fisherman's cottage which sleeps five. The property is a gem in the heart of Mumbles perched on the side of the hill above Mumbles it has panoramic views across the bay. The cottage itself has a bright and airy Scandinavian feel. A terrace overlooks the bay so that you can relax in a deck chair or dine al fresco watching the lights twinkle over the sea. There is even a cabin in the garden with a sauna and shower room.
Perfectly placed in the village of Mumbles, Rock Cottage is just minutes walk from shops, restaurants and bars. If you have children to entertain it's a two minute stroll to the Mumbles promenade and Southend Gardens where they can play crazy golf, let off steam in the adventure playground or catch the land train to the children's Lido at Blackpill. Mumbles Pier with its cafes and amusement arcades is a five minute walk away. Verdi's waterside Italian cafe is on your doorstep, open day and night for ice cream, coffee and Italian food.
Although the cottage is minutes from Mumbles, its unique position gives it a feeling of tranquility and seclusion. A nature reserve begins at the edge of the garden stretching up to the the summit of Mumbles Hill with its breathtaking views. The reserve carries on round to Bracelet and Limeslade Bay where you can pick up the cliff path to the beaches of Rotherslade and Langland. Staying at Rock Cottage you are perfectly placed to have a holiday where you need never use your car. Access to the cottage is up the historic Dickslade path which, with its 55 steps may exclude some visitors, but it's worth it for the views.
You enter the cottage on the upper floor which is an open plan living and dining room flooded with light from duel aspect windows. The decor is bright with white wooden paneling and fisherman style lanterns giving it a wonderful seaside feel. The Dining area has a table and chairs for 6 people. The living area has two sofas, a real fire and television with DVD player. The kitchen has everything you would expect and need plus amazing views of the bay.
The bedrooms are down a narrow flight of stairs. There is a rope handrail but care must be taken. There are three bedrooms on this floor and a family bathroom with basin, WC and bath with shower above. The same white theme runs throughout this floor and each of the rooms open out onto a veranda which overlooks the bay and has outside furniture. There is a master double bedroom, a single room with a day bed and a twin room with bunk beds. There is also a hall cupboard containing the boiler and a top loading washing machine.
Externally there is a small patio area in front of the cottage with outside furniture There is a brick built BBQ and beyond this a wooden cabin containing a log fired sauna. There is also a WC, basin and shower cubical within the cabin.
There is a wooden veranda on the back of the building which also has patio furniture.
Parking is on Mumbles road at the bottom of the Dickslade path or in one of the car parks along this stretch of promenade.

The Gower / Mumbles area
Mumbles - the village at the gateway to the Gower. What was a fishing village with a Norman Castle is now a vibrant centre with restaurants, cafes, bars and boutique shops. A good base for your holiday with all these amenities, beaches within easy walking distance and the isolated beaches of the Gower a short distance away. Escape to Rhossili beach in twenty minutes, and return to Mumbles for a wonderful evening out without worrying about having to drive.
On offer is also an amusement arcade, skating rink, parks with children's play areas and even a friday night film show in the local hall. During the summer holidays there is also children’s activities in the park provided free of charge by the local authority.
If you want a change of scene there is the land train which connects Mumbles to the Blackpill Lido, paddling and play areas for the children and then on into Swansea for shopping, all around the sweep of the beautiful Swansea Bay.
The beaches closest to Mumbles are Limeslade and Bracelet Bay. The former has ample parking, a cafe and Italian restaurant with spectacular views over the bay. The latter an old fashioned style ice cream parlor and cafe.
Further along the cliff path are Rotherslade and Langland which are the most popular beaches in the area. There is ample parking and a number of child friendly cafes. The Langland Brasserie is located next the beach and is also open for evening meals in a truly fantastic setting.
Leave your cares behind and your car if you wish and experience the laid back approach to life where shorts are obligatory from March to October.

The Gower Peninsula is easily accessed by car, rail, plane or ferry. The closest international airport which serves our area is Cardiff Airport. It is less than one hours drive from the Gower Peninsular. By road, the M4 motorway means that Swansea is less than three hours from London, two and a half hours from Birmingham and 4 hours from Manchester. The train runs into Swansea Train Station which is six miles from the Gower and connected by a regular bus service. Swansea also has a ferry terminal with a regular service to Cork.
