This property has been recently renovated to a very high standard. It is only two minutes walk from the centre of Mumbles with its cafes, restaurants and bars. Mumbles promenade/cycle path is literally on your doorstep and the property benefits from spectacular sea views across Swansea Bay. The stunning blue flag beaches of Rotherslade and Langland are an energetic walk away or five minutes by car. Mumbles is known as the Gateway to the Gower and this is an excellent location from which to explore its many beautiful coves and beaches.

This is a large property with a light and spacious feel. It has been decorated to a high standard and is beautifully furnished throughout.

The ground floor has a large reception room with bay window and fantastic sea views. There is a flat panel digital television and DVD player. A second reception room has two leather sofas and offers an ideal space for quiet relaxation. The lovely kitchen/diner has french windows opening to the garden. The Dining table seats 6 to 8 people in comfort. The kitchen is appointed to a high standard with granite worktops and quality appliances. There is a cloakroom alongside, containing a new washer-dryer. There is also a downstairs wc and wash hand basin.

The first floor consists of a large master bedroom which is furnished beautifully. This room has two large windows making it very bright and spacious and offering views across the bay. The second bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom twin beds. Each also has a generous wardrobe and drawers. The family bathroom is finished to a high standard and benefits from a basin, WC and a bath with shower above.

The basement is currently being converted and is due be completed by April 2014. The conversion will be beautifully finished to match the high standard of the rest of the house and will comprise of a twin bedroom plus shower room with w.c. The bedroom is will be approximately 11ft x11ft and contain twin 3ft beds. Please note that there will be a steep staircase down to this room. Photographs will be added as soon as the work is complete.

Externally there is a newly landscaped, terraced garden over several levels. The garden is enclosed making it very safe for children. A barbecue and outside furniture is provided. At the top of the garden there is locked storage and easy access for your bikes, surfboards, wetsuits and beach equipment. This is adjacent to the block paved parking area offering generous private parking for two cars, accessed from a quiet, leafy private road running behind the properties.

Across this small road is a mature woodland with a path through to the Castle Fields which surround Oystermouth Castle, and footpaths to the heart of Mumbles village a couple of minutes walk away.

The South Wales region

The Gower offers a dramatic and varied landscape. The numerous beautiful bays of golden sand and secluded coves are linked by a coastal path allowing you to explore the entire coast of the peninsular. Sandy beaches backed by dunes and dramatic limestone cliffs are found on South and West Gower. To the North of the peninsular the landscape changes to salt marshes and there are many nature reserves providing a bird watcher's paradise.

Often compared to the Bay of Naples, Swansea Bay is a five mile sweep of golden sand linking the Swansea Maritime Quarter and Mumbles Head. A beautiful panorama of sea and water. Running the length of the bay is a promenade ideal for a stroll or cycle ride. If you aren’t feeling energetic a trip on the Swansea Bay Rider might be just the ticket. The Swansea Bay Rider is a land train which runs between Southend Gardens in Mumbles and Blackpill Lido on bank holiday weekends in May and throughout the Summer.

Close to Mumbles are the popular beaches of Langland and Caswell Bay, The Blue Flag Beach of Langland is very accessible, with ramps at both ends of the bay allowing pushchairs onto the beach. A beautiful curving bay with Victorian beach huts and palm trees. There's ample parking and three eateries, one an upmarket licensed Brasserie and two beach side cafes with everything from bacon sandwiches to buckets and spades. This is a popular surfers venue with a designated swimmers area and life guards on duty. There are rock pools galore for the children and lovely golden sand.

Caswell is a beautiful Blue Flag beach with a large car park and its own beachside cafe as well as a snack bar and beach shop. There is a life guard in attendance during the summer months and a surf school in operation. Out of season this beach becomes a surfers paradise.

Travelling further onto the Gower Peninsula the stunning secluded bay of Three Cliffs is one of the most photographed locations on Gower and was recently featured on the television programme Britain's Favourite View. Wonderful golden sands backed on one side by high dunes which are perfect for sunbathing.

In 2007 The Travel Magazine named Oxwich beach the most beautiful in Britain, describing it as "magnificent and unspoilt" and as a "great place for adults and children to explore". There is a wide range of habitats with the beach backed by salt marshes, woodland and sand dunes. Oxwich is a wonderful beach for swimming and water sports. Its position facing South East means that the water is particularly calm and perfectly suited for windsurfing, kayaking, waterskiing and power boating, all of which is on offer on this popular beach. There is car parking directly behind the western end of the beach and this along with toilets and a kiosk means it is a very accessible and convenient beach.

The last city before rural Wales, Swansea, boasts an Olympic swimming pool, The National Waterfront Museum and the Museum of Transport. Let us not forget the Grand Theatre, the LC2 water park, a Casino and two multi-screen cinemas. There are several festivals including ‘Escape to the Park‘ a dance music event held in Singleton Park, this venue also hosts the BBC Proms in the Park . The ever growing Swansea Bay Summer festival runs throughout the summer with live music, theater, children’s entertainment and sports events. Many events are free but it is worth remembering to book in advance for the international artists who perform in the festival.

Wales' second city Swansea nestles around the crescent shaped Swansea bay with its miles of golden sand.

The restoration of Wind street, (pronounced Wine), hints of the past wealth of the city with its beautiful buildings transformed from banks into bars and restaurants. This street has become world famous as a party venue.

The Maritime Quarter, an internationally awarded architectural project, combines the beautiful architecture of the waterfront which survived the German bombs with a new marina development including galleries, museums cafes and bars. The development, which was praised by Prince Charles for its sympathetic architecture has greatly enhanced the city and strengthened it’s links with the waterfront.

There are many beautiful places to see within the environs of the city. The Vivian family, who accumulated great wealth through copper smelting in the 19th century, spent a good deal of that money developing the grounds of their estates; notably Clyne Castle and Singleton Abbey. These properties and their gardens and parklands were subsequently acquired by the city of Swansea. Clyne Gardens is extremely beautiful with many rare Azaleas and Rhododendrons as well as ancient trees . Singleton Park houses a stunning walled Botanical Garden surrounded by beautifully landscaped parklands sloping gently towards the sea. Swansea’s position on the edge of the Gower means it is perfectly placed as a tourist destination.

Gower

Mumbles - the village at the gateway to the Gower. What was a fishing village with a Norman Castle is now a vibrant centre with restaurants, cafes, bars and boutique shops. A good base for your holiday with all these amenities, beaches within easy walking distance and the isolated beaches of the Gower a short distance away. Escape to Rhossili beach in twenty minutes, and return to Mumbles for a wonderful evening out without worrying about having to drive.

On offer is also an amusement arcade, skating rink, parks with children's play areas and even a friday night film show in the local hall. During the summer holidays there is also children’s activities in the park provided free of charge by the local authority.

If you want a change of scene there is the land train which connects Mumbles to the Blackpill Lido, paddling and play areas for the children and then on into Swansea for shopping, all around the sweep of the beautiful Swansea Bay.

The beaches closest to Mumbles are Limeslade and Bracelet Bay. The former has ample parking, a cafe and Italian restaurant with spectacular views over the bay. The latter an old fashioned style ice cream parlor and cafe.

Further along the cliff path are Rotherslade and Langland which are the most popular beaches in the area. There is ample parking and a number of child friendly cafes. The Langland Brasserie is located next the beach and is also open for evening meals in a truly fantastic setting.

Leave your cares behind and your car if you wish and experience the laid back approach to life where shorts are obligatory from March to October.

"Perfect getaway"

The house was modern and clean and the garden was lovely but would caution elderly people as to the steps in the garden as quite steep but there is a hand rail. The location was perfect close to shops across the road from sea. Just could not fault this one.

"Perfection"

With the majority of my family still living in Swansea, we wanted a property to rent over New Year so we could host dinner parties and be close to all the family who live in Mumbles and Sketty.

The location of the property is perfect, short walk into mumbles and for those who like to walk, we walked all the way round to Swansea Marina. Being from Swansea meant we already know all the great places to visit. However for first time visitors the property is perfect in terms of location and is well equipped with advise and recommendations on where to go.

The house has been finished to such a high standard with lovely homely features that by the end of our week long stay, we really felt at home. A feeling you never get from a hotel.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Swansea. I cant wait to book again and look forward to see the completed work in the basement of the property.

My only negative point was that we were slightly embarrassed one evening when the owner of the property arrived and appeared unaware of our booking. Fortunately Gower Getaways were always a phone call away and we resolved the confusion quicklly.

We are very happy you liked the Mumbles Road property. With regard to the provisions at the property we provide a welcome pack to get you started which includes tea, coffee, sugar, milk, hot chocolate and welsh cakes. We also provide toilet rolls, a couple of bin liners, a new dish sponge and dish cloth, a couple of dish washer tablets and tea towels and all guest towels. "Beautiful house, sea-front location"

This is a beautifully presented and equipped house, with three bedrooms, two living rooms (not qute sure why) and a big kitchen / dining room. There is parking at the back (you drive up a litte lane to get access to the back entrance) and a lockable shed where you can leave bikes.

We took good advantage of the wifi as one of us had some work deadlines and another was revising for exams. A short walk into Mumbles proper, which has a coop and deli, as well as cafes and independent clothes shops.

We ate out a few times, but the kitchen was big and well-equipped so we enjoyed cooking in and eating as a family. We like the book swap bookshelves and stock of board games. We got quite good at boggle and have continued to play a version of it after arriving home.

The location was a good compromise between the kids who wanted to be in a town, and HackneyDad who wanted access to walks and bird-watching. He could even see waders from the bedroom window.

It was a bit cold when we first arrived, but good instructions about how to adjust the heating were provided and this was soon sorted.

I'd definitely recommend this property.

"Stunning views over Swansea bay"

Comfortable, well furnished and spacious accommodation for our extended family holiday with children and grandchildren. Property very well appointed and very well equipped, in the heart of the Mumbles, wonderful to be able to explore the many small shops and Oystermouth Castle just round the corner.

We would have used the garden/patio more if the weather had been kinder to us! Fabulous views across the bay from the front window. Would certainly consider using this property for future holidays. Minor disadvantage was carrying luggage/buggies/baby seats and babies down the steep steps at the back of the property and it would have been useful to have had a stairgate fitted to stop our toddlers from climbing the stairs!
