"La Belle Maison" 300 year old Country House with shutters, exposed stonework, beams and a private pool. Set in a small rural hamlet minutes away from larger towns it is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, enjoying the sun in the garden or diving in the pool....
Near by are restaurants, stores, pubs for a break during the day or an evening meal in town. This large traditional house retains all of its original features. The house was recently renovated to a very high standard and offers excellent and spacious accommodation (there is over 3,000 sq. feet of space in the house). The garden is spacious and private and in the sun all day with still some parts in the shade. There is ample garden furniture for both sunbathing and eating outdoors.
Recreation consists of a 10 x 5 metre swimming pool, (with shallow end and also deep enough for diving). Basketball, swing ball, table tennis....and a large barbecue for outdoor eating; there is also a large safe covered area for children to play out of the sunshine.
Inside the house offers all the comfort that you can dream on; kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances, living room invites you with his yellow L shaped leather suites and armchairs (both kitchen and living room have wood burners, wood is supplied). All bedrooms are spacious with wardrobes and chest of drawers (quality bed linen is supplied).

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region
The house is located in the centre of Poitou Charentes with a lots of great places to see. There are of villages and market towns in the area. Melle has some very fine restaurants and cafes as well as a free access Internet café. Sauzé Vaussais, Melle and Chef Boutonne have large supermarkets for grocery shopping as well as restaurants, cafés, doctors in case of an emergency. The nearest large town, Niort is 45 minutes away and offers a large selection of shops. Further a field but within easy access are the larger towns of Poitiers, which is home to Futuroscope, the second largest theme park in France, and Angoulème which is full of historical buildings and both are good for shopping.
Puy du Fou, an absolutely amazing adventure park is about 90 minutes away, and is well worth a visit. A drive west will take you to the coastal resort of La Rochelle and Ile de Ré, famed for his magnificent beaches, while south will take you to Cognac, famed for its brandy distilleries.
At all times you will find in the house, tourist guide information to all local attraction (near and far) with maps to make your holiday all the more enjoyable. For those in need of a golf course, Niort offers some.
Gournay-Loize area
Batallé is the name of the hamlet (part of Gournay Loisé) where the house is located. It is great for walking and is nested in the heart of the countryside but still minutes away (driving) from the towns of Chef Boutonne, Melle and Sauzé Vaussais.
How to get there
The house can be easily reached from the airports of Poitiers & La Rochelle (less than an hour drive) as well Bordeaux, Nantes & Limoges (about 2 hours drive). All these airports have daily direct flights by many airlines in the U.K. and Ireland. Ryanair, Easyjet and Aer Lingus being some of them. The house can also be reached within a 5 to 6 hours drive from the French ports

In the kitchen you will find all the modern appliances that you need for a comfortable holiday, everything to have a snack or cook for large parties.
All the bedrooms have exposed stonewall and exposed beams. The house has 5 Bedrooms, all upstairs. Two twin rooms, one treble, one Kingsize bed with coat and a family treble (a Kingsize bed, cot and single). A family bathroom is located upstairs with Tub/Shower, vanity and toilet; another bathroom is downstairs with a shower, vanity and toilet, perfect for when you come from the pool. Both bathrooms have constant hot water (2 separate boilers in the house so the hot water never runs short)
Further details outdoors: A private pool in a self enclosed garden with plenty of space to sunbath, relax in the shade of a tree and/or have dinner. Lots of space to be left alone or for kids to play. Enough garden furniture to enjoy life outdoors.

A welcome pack is provided on arrival with a few things to have a snack before going to the stores. A Tourist information book is also available with plenty of information, would you decide to take a day trip or longer or just for nearby places of interest, supermarkets, restaurants, weekly markets.... An English/Spanish/French-speaking representative is available at all time to answer questions or help. Just a short distance away in case of need of help on site. The property, house and pool are for the use of the guests, no sharing with the owner as the property is totally private.
Conditions
A 25%, non refundable deposit is required and the full remaining balance 6 weeks prior to arrival in order to secure the booking. For shorter delay on booking, the full payment is required. A refundable breakages deposit of £300 is required on arrival (cheque or cash), fully repaid within two weeks of departure after inspection, usually the day of whenever possible.
