The Brittany region

Situated in North Western France in the Morbihan region. This region is unspoilt country side with areas of woodland, rivers, unspoilt beaches and a wealth of fauna and flora. Wonderful for peaceful walks in the beauty of nature. Watch out for the local deer and stags, wild boar, eagles and kingfisher along the river banks to name but a few. Beaches her are unspoilt and off the beaten track but you can find fabulous local cafes and restaurants also. Enjoy the Breton Fetes in the summer months which are held by most towns , even the really small ones and are lots of fun . Enjoy visiting the ancient churchs, megaliths which date back thousands of years and don't miss the world heritage site at Carnac. The largest display of standing stones in the world. Also lots of history to be enjoyed.. the German WW11 submarine base at Lorient is fascinating. Wonderful for walking and cycling. Wonderful for a beach break and to rest in the glory of unspoilt country side. Interesting medieval towns also and upmarket shops and restaurents along with Art Galleries at Pont Aven. A haven for those that enjoy life away from the fast lane ! Weather is gloriously sunny during the spring and summer months and autumn and winters are similar to those in England. A wonderful place to visit out of summer season.

Gourin

Rural location and in the heart of nature. Local rivers , open fields and woodland abound. Unspoilt golden sandy beaches within 35 minutes drive away. Outdoor swimming pools and waterslides open during the summer in Gourin, Carhaix and Scaer ( all within 15 minutes of the property). Stunning local walks and excellent for cycle routes. Roads are quiet and well maintained. Good supermarket shopping available also. Ancient megaliths approx. 3000 years old dotted throughout area. Local markets, excellent resturants and upmarket feel especially to Pont Aven..Beautiful churches and many local fetes on throughout the year. Peaceful and stunning scenery.

"Beautiful cottage in a peaceful location."

We stayed at this cottage for two weeks in August 2012. The cottage has been beautifully restored and furnished. It is set in a quiet rural location with a large private garden overlooking the valley below.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed for preparing meals. The supermarkets are only a short drive away, and stock everything you would expect from a large supermarket – with some great bargains on wine!

The cottage is an excellent base for exploring Brittany's unspoilt coastline and traditional villages. We visited several beaches during our stay – in fact we went to the beach every day as the weather was so good.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, away from it all, this is the perfect cottage for you.

We enjoyed our holiday so much, we are returning this summer.

"Luxurious and Relaxing Break"

It was a pleasure to stay in this delightful and beautifully finished cottage. It is in a quiet location with great views over the valley and some really nice walks nearby and only about 10 minutes from the local town. The whole cottage has been done to a very high standard and we thought that the log burner was a great feature and provided plenty of warmth throughout the living room / kitchen diner. If you like peace & quiet with a touch of luxury then we would highly recommend this cottage.

"Stunning views, peaceful secluded location close to river and woodland and only 35 minutes from sandy beaches."

The house is 200 years old (look for the date 1818 above the door) but is newly renovated but still has a rustic charm. Towards the end of the week we enjoyed the woodburning stove set in a huge fireplace.. really cosy ! We loved it here because it was situated on the top of a hill and we enjoyed washing the sunrise and set. from the sun terrace to the rear.
The nearest town is only 10 minutes away .. good for lunch or shopping and in the summer there is an outdoor pool there which is fantastic if you have children. We had a great day shopping in Lorient 30 minutes away and the wwII german submarine base there is amazing !
The habour town of Pont Aven is only 20 minutes away and there are lots of art galleries and fantastic restaurants overlooking the harbour.
House itself is very well done .. kitchen is brill with cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and a dining table for 6 .. so its great if you want to self cater. Also its situated in beautiful countryside and there are loads of walks on the doorstep. We found an old traintrack only 5 minutes away which takes you into Gourin .. make sure that you are up to the 8 mile round trip though as my wife was shattered !

Would thoroughly recommend this property .. we are booked to go back in August,

David and Ann Horbury

So glad that you loved it here ...

"Beautiful and warming"

I have stayed here for 2 summers in a row now. It was a lovely vacation for my family and I. The view from the back garden is stunning, especially at sunset and it had a huge space for the children to… More
