Bring your bike, your boat, your dog!
~The property is just a 10min stroll above Bantry Bay to 'The Cove', the waterfront. 'The Cove' has a good boat slip, and the area along the rocks is really good for fishing. Or just take some lounge chairs (provided) down and have a super picnic!
~When at 'The Cove', you are already walking on the track of the northern 'Sheep's Head Way'. From the house your have immediate access to the 4 directions of the 'Sheep's Head Way', which is 55 miles long and divided into small or large portions all over the peninsula. Example: direction north west is the hike to the lighthouse of the peninsula, about 2 hrs from the house one way, and probably the most beautiful walk you have ever been on! Direction north-east will take you past the old Copper Mines with deserted houses. As you walk above the waters, the mines you hold on to the long, roped handrail provided for your safety. Thrilling and beautiful!
~Should you prefer cycling - Again, several interesting directions to choose from. For cycling: all paved roads right from the house to take you along Bantry Bay on the 'Goat's Path' right into Bantry if you so wish- or to just take the Kilcrohane-loop and then take a sandwich down to The Cove.
There is a market on a Friday in Bantry with a bigger market on the 1st Friday of every month.
