The Brittany region
The beautiful region of Brittany is one of the most visited areas in France, with its history, rich Breton culture, prehistoric menhirs, local cuisine, stunning coastline, lush, verdant countryside and a temperate climate, to name some of the attractions which make it so popular with so many. The ease of access from U.K. and other parts of mainland Europe add to its attraction offering a completely different experience to your home life but without significant travel.
Plelauff is a quiet, rural, picturesque village located on the Nantes-Brest Canal. Nearby, the Medieval town of Gouarec is just a 4km leisurely walk/cycle along the Canal where you will find supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, banks, chemist and bars. 12kms away is the lovely market town of Rostrenen with its Tuesday market, numerous shops, restaurants, cafes and large supermarkets. It's a 10min drive to the 12th Century Abbaye de Bon-Repos, with its weekly Sunday morning market & son et lumière in August, it is on the edge of Lac de Guerlédan/Foret de Quenecan with numerous activities including water sports, hiking & cycling trails, & sandy beaches for swimming. Please note that we understand that the lake will be drained of water sometime this summer 2015, which will prevent water activites but allow visitors to see the flooded valley as well as buildings which are usually under water. Swimming is still possible nearby at the new (2014) Indoor Swimming Pool at Gouarec (4kms), as well as the lakeside beaches at Glomel (20kms). Pontivy has a 50 metre outdoor pool open July/August. Plelauff is close to the geographic centre of Brittany so is an ideal base for exploring Brittany. Most of Brittany's highlights can be reached in an easy day-trip: Carnac , Vannes, Concarneau, Douarnenez, Brest, Dinan & the Pink Granite Coast (all approx.1.5hrs); St.Brieuc, Plerin, Pont Aven, Quimper & Huelgoat (all approx. 1 hour) whilst the Medieval towns of Pontivy (35mins) and Josselin (1 hr 10m) are well worth a visit.

"Beautiful cottage in a great location."
La Maison Bretonne is a beautiful cottage in a great location. We travelled with our children which are 5 and 2 from Roscoff, which is a straight forward hour and a quarter drive. We easily found the cottage thanks to the owners directions on their property information which gave us everything we needed to know about the property before we set off. It has all you need for a fantastic stay. The kids loved the garden! In fact we all did, lots of space for games or just enjoying the lovely weather. The covered terrace area is also fantastic, you wont want to have your breakfast inside again! Being central it gives you so much to visit without having to travel too far. The lake is great and is only about 15 mins away and the chateau at josselin is well worth a visit. From the village the canal is 5 mins away and great walks either way with plenty of picnic spots and wildlife along the way. Great location, Spacious and everything there you could need. Perfect.

La Maison Bretonne is a lovely house. The owners, Steve and Martin, have managed to convert it into a cosy house with all comfort in a short time. Thanks to the beautiful autumn weather we enjoyed the garden and the fine loungers. The location of the house, in central Brittany, was perfect to discover the region. In short: highly recommended! It was our first time in this area, but certainly not the last.

"Looking for a lovely holiday cottage in the heart of Brittany? You just found it!"
What a pleasure to arrive at La Maison Bretonne! A beatiful garden for the kids to stretch the legs after the long drive here. The house is well equipped and super cozy, all perfectly fine, comfortable, clean. The new Weber gas BBQ was repeatedly put to the test and has been approved! The friendly owners Steve and Martin have really done all they could to make their guests feel comfortable. They’ve done a great job. Even should one experience bad weather - after all we are talking about Brittany – you can spend the day easily blissfully doing nothing on the covered terrace. The cottage is also cozy enough to stay in all day and still not go crazy. But it would be a pity not to go out and explore this beautiful region, even when it rains. La Maison Bretonne is located in the quiet and picturesque village Plélauff in the heart of Brittany: all major tourist attractions Brittany has to offer are within an hour’s drive (or not much longer): the beautiful shores of the Atlantic in the north, east and south, the Crozon peninsula, the medieval towns of Quimper, Quimperlé, the menhirs of Carnac, oak forests straight out of the fairy tales, ... But who doesn’t feel like driving far will find a lot to do nearby as well: cycling along the Nantes-Brest canal, all kinds of wonderful walks, all kinds of water recreation at the lake of Guerledan and much more. As for us, this is a place to remember ... Thanks Steve and Martin! We’ll be back!

"A peaceful stay in a tranquil setting"
La Maison Bretonne is a pretty cottage, well maintained and equipped with all you need for a relaxing break in the beautiful Brittany countryside. Perfect at anytime of the year, the facilities are great and it's the perfect base for exploring further afield. We stayed in May when the weather was just warming up and it was lovely, we barbequed in the garden and cooked in the kitchen, which is the heart of this lovely little house, and if we felt chilly we got the log burner going and sat around it drinking the most fantastically inexpensive wines, delicious cheeses and fresh bread - what could be more French or more perfect? I would recommend a stay here at anytime of the year.

"A holiday to remember!"
We have really enjoyed our holiday in Plélauff. The house is very cosy and nicely decorated. The garden is huge and completely closed. The children had a great time! It is also very nice that the beds were made when we arrived and that towels and cleaning products were provided. We received a lot of usefull info regarding our stay at the house well in advance. Plélauff is a very quiet and pleasant village. We really enjoyed the silence. The surroundings of the house are beautiful. There are plenty of things to do and see in the area. The sea is only one hour away. We have had two weeks of beautiful weather and we have seen many beautiful things during our stay! All the ingredients for a blisfull enjoyable holiday!
