The West Country / Cornwall region
Cornwall is a paradise for people who love the coastline and beautiful walks. The climate is mild and our cornish gardens our in bloom early season due to this. Cornish light is an artists dream with longer days and crisp clean unpoluted light.
A must visit when you are in Cornwall is the famous Eden Project, or a trip to Lands End where the atlantic ocean meets the rugged cliffs of Cornwall.
If the open Cornish air is your thing then another must is a trip to the ever popular Minack Theatre with performances from May to September.
If making your trip to Cornwall a very special memory is your aim then why not take a short flight by Skybus to the beautiful Isles of Scilly and spend a day relaxing in the perfect surroundings.
Gorran Haven area
Caerhays Castle is owned by the Williams family and is located in a sheltered valley overlooking Porthluney Cove on the South Cornish Coast.
The surrounding parkland and woodland gardens were created originally from the discoveries of the plant hunters in China shortly after the turn of the 20th century. Since then a great deal of hybridisation work has taken place at Caerhays to create the extensive woodland gardens which visitors can admire and enjoy today. It’s best to visit during March, April and May.
The Cornish coast offers ample opportunity for some beach time, the secluded beaches of Portholland and Porthluney are ideal for some old fashioned family day on the beach fun. This large expansive of sand offers plenty of space to run and play. Powered craft are prohibited, adding to the peace and tranquillity of the area. These are popular locations for surfing during the winter months.
There is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the Cornish countryside, visit one of the many gardens, Heligan or Tregothnan or enjoy long walks along the extensive coastline or The South West Coast Path which is Britain's longest National Trail, running from Minehead in Somerset to South Haven Point near Poole Dorset.
The Eden Project is a must, showcasing more than 1,000,000 plants representing 5,000 species from many of the climatic zones of the world. Many of these can grow in the mild conditions of Cornwall, others need greenhouses and that is where Eden's two gigantic Biomes - the biggest conservatories in the world - come in. In addition to the plants, art is central to Eden's messaging, and the site is liberally peppered with fascinating, thought-provoking works and installations.
