BookThe South East Ireland / County Wexford region
Four counties and four great rivers make up the South East of Ireland. The Barrow, Blackwater, Suir, Slaney and the Nore flow through a countryside rich in antiquity. Some of the most famous castles in Ireland are to be found here in arguably the most pleasant climate in the country, which gives the region its nickname, the 'Sunny South East'. The coastal town Waterford is a pleasant seaside resort and home to internationally famous Waterford Crystal, manufactures of the world's finest crystal since 1783 and visited by a quarter of a million tourists every year. Waterford was founded by the Vikings and tours of the city are an experience no visitor should miss.
The Gorey / Ballygarrett area
The nearby, Curracloe Beach was made famous as the location for the filming of the film “Saving Private Ryan”, starring Tom Hanks. The local village is approx 2mls away. It is very small and friendly, with shops, pubs and a church. The next larger town, Courtown, is approx. 6mls. and has more facilities, restaurants, hotels, beach entertainment areas and a fabulous public swimming pool and leisure centre. There are lovely forest walks and horse riding.
There are about 6 fine sandy beaches within 6mls of the house, one more beautiful than the next!!
The location of the house is ideal for those wishing to explore the south east of Ireland, including Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wicklow and Dublin.

We just got back from this wonderful house on the beach in Wexford. Living in Dublin we didn't realise that within an hour we could be sitting on a deck looking at the sea and forgetting about the big smoke. This house is very well equipped but the biggest selling point is the massive garden that ends with the horizon of the sea. There is a beach at the bottom of the garden that the kids spent hours on looking shells etc. Ballygarret is a two minute drive for pubs and shops but we found it was more fun to load up with supplies and forget about the outside world. The kids had a ball flying kites in the garden and crab fishing in Cahore, 5 minute drive. We will be back! |
