On the night of 29th November the locals of Puerto Del a Cruz meet in the central plaza Del charco dragging their pots and other old objects behind them. The "fiesta del cacharro y la castaña" (the pot and the chestnut) is the local name for the celebration.
During the Month of June you can visit the Corpus carpets. A festive tradition of La Orotava and La Laguna (north Tenerife) where the streets are filled with carpets made from flower petals and coloured sand.
Dont forget the month of February when Tenerife plays host to Europe’s biggest party. 'Carnaval’ – a fourteen day, non-stop party in which all participants, locals and tourists alike dress up and dance in the streets until the early hours.
Golf del Sur area
The first time you drive down the long straight road into Golf Del Sur it will become clear that there is something special, hidden away in this little Oasis on the south coast of Tenerife. The sea is sprawled in front of you, the road is lined with palm trees and the green of the golf course contrasts beautifully with the barreness of the rest of the island.
One of the most magical things about the this resort is that lovely smell of freshly mown grass coming from the fairways conjuring up images of an English village green in mid August after a scattering of rain.
The new marina and its many sea front restaurants are easily reached by a picturesque promenade. For those who like a bargain, outside the Aguamarina Hotel is the home of Golf Del Sur's Friday market. There are a number of Golf courses dotted around the within walking distance and there is plenty to do for people of all ages.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Tenerife Sur which is only 5km, a 10 minute drive away about 10€ - 15€ in a taxi.
The resort also offers a free shuttle service to and from Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas to guests.
