Rose Cottage. Is a traditional thatched cottage in the heart of the tiny hamlet of Roud on the Isle of Wight. The Cottage stands in almost 3 acres of garden where there is a unheated swimming pool, a large pond with elevated summer house and a separate trampoline area fitted with a safety net. There are lovely walks from the front door which link into the wonderful net work of footpaths that the Island is famous for. Ann and Peter, the owners live next door in a detached annex.. There are chickens that run free in the garden and Muffin the cat will make friends with holidaymkers.Threre are two woodburn8in g stoves for the main heating and fuel is provided. Situated just off England's South coast and less than 2 hours from London via Ferry, the UK's Holiday Island and Dinosaur Capital of Great Britain, the Isle of Wight is the perfect destination at any time of year. Local Attractions are Osborne House, Holiday Home of Queen Victoria open to the public, Blackgang Chine, a great place for children and adults alike, Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Dinosaur Isle exhibition, Havenstreet Steam Railway, and it's also Home of the world famous Cowes week. Wonderful network of cycling tracks and a perfect place for walkers.
Rose Cottage is located in the hamlet of Roud which is situated in unspoilt, tranquil countryside in the Southern end of the Isle of Wight. A river, the Eastern Yar, runs through the Hamlet and this provided the ideal growing conditions for reeds and willows which were in great demand in ancient times.
Pony trekking is available locally.
The seaside town of Ventnor is ten minutes drive away, there visitors can enjoy this Victorian resort where the seafront is lined with cafes and bars. The Botanical Gardens close to Ventnor are a must for plant enthusiast.
The main town of Newport is six miles away.
There are several pubs and restaurants within two miles of the cottage; these include the Chequers Inn, Rookley, the White Horse, Whitwell, the White Lion and the Buddle Inn, Niton and the Taverners' in Godshill.
