Undiscovered by mass tourism, Gocek has been declared a special environmental protection area and has become a sought after location for the independent holidaymaker.

The property is an easy 15min stroll from the centre of Gocek ,with its pedestrianised streets, colourful shops, cafes, and restaurants, many of which are by the water's edge. In addition, subject to availability, the ground floor apartment or the whole villa could be made available.

This area is an excellent place for sailing, attracting the yachting fraternity from all over the world.
The owners of the property have a 40' yacht which can be made available to guests on a private skippered charter basis. Enjoy a' hands on' sailing experience or just sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning scenery! Join us for a day or combine a few days on the yacht with the remainder in the apartment.The spectacular coastline reveals many small islands and sheltered bays, otherwise inaccessible. Perfect for a lunchtime or overnight stop!

Relatively quiet by day as the locals go about their business, Gocek comes alive in the evening. Take a leisurely stroll along the marina waterfront, and stop at one of the many waterside bars to enjoy a drink or two as the sun goes down over the mountains, before sampling the local cuisine in one of the many restaurants.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Turquoise / Lycian coastal region benefits from guaranteed sunshine with little or no rainfall between May and Mid November. Winter rainfall ensures that the area remains green and lush during the hot summer months.
There are many historic and archaeological sites to visit in the area.

A 35 min dolmus ( local minibus) journey takes you to Fethiye, a bustling market town with harbour and marina, steeped in local history and Turkish culture. Explore the old town bazaar, sample the Turkish delight, buy fresh fish in the market and have it cooked for you in one of the surrounding restaurants. The weekly market is a culinary adventure and provides the opportunity to eat gozleme - a traditional Turkish pancake or sip ice cool freshly squeezed orange / pomegranate juice.

A short drive / dolmus ride from Fethiye is the deserted village of Kayakoy, the old Greek settlement, and inspiration for Louis de Bernieres novel" Birds Without Wings". Visit one of the many restaurants where you can barbecue at the table.

Saklikent gorge is an hour away by car. Enjoy walking along a wooden board walk or in the icy cool waters. Enjoy a cool drink or fresh trout for lunch, relaxing on cushions at a Turkish table over the water. Stop at the ancient site of Tlos on the way back or visit one of the many shady tea gardens for refreshment.

Dalyan, 45 mins away, provides the opportunity to see the Lycian tombs and ruins at Caunos, and enjoy a riverboat trip to Izutsu beach where the endangered loggerhead turtles lay their eggs.

For guests staying longer than a week or two, take a 2 day trip to the magnificent ruins at Ephesus, staying overnight at a family pension in Selcuk, visiting the museum and wine producing village of Sirince.

Many of our guests combine a relaxing holiday with a few days in Istanbul, exploring the sites of the old city or visiting Cappadocia in Central Anatolia with its amazing landscape and underground cities.

Gocek area

The property enjoys a peaceful setting within a walled garden, backed by mountains and pine forests. It is located in the area known as Yesil Varde - Green Valley. It is an easy short walk to the village centre with its harbour side restaurants and cafes, and to Port Gocek Marina one of the finest in the region. There are several marinas within the Bay of Gocek, providing a popular stopping off point for cruising yachts throughout the season.

The owner's 40' sailing yacht "Sevinc" is available for private skippered charter on a daily or part week basis providing a wonderful opportunity to visit some of the islands and bays, swim and snorkel in the turquoise blue sea and dine ashore at one or two of the small island restaurants.

Gocek's relaxed atmosphere is a tonic and nightlife is focused on dining out.
There are many restaurants and bars by the water's edge, where you can sit and enjoy a cool beer or glass of wine and catch the sun go down over the mountains. Eating out is a wonderful experience. Turkish cuisine is varied and is based on local ingredients. The Turks are very proud of their kitchens and offer excellent quality food and hospitality.

The Sunday market, popular with the locals, is a delight, and provides the opportunity to buy all kinds of fresh seasonal produce.

There are three major banks, cash machines, several mini markets, fishmonger, butcher, and patisserie in the village and a small shop closer to the villa for provisions and fresh bread.

Local taxis are available from the village centre and are inexpensive.

Hair and beauty treatments are available, a visit to a barber for a shave and massage is a must for the men and we would recommend the Hammam (Turkish bath) at Club Marina.

The nearest beaches are at Gocek Island available by water taxi from the harbour, Inlice - 10 min drive, Katranci and Gunluku bays - 15 mins, Sarigeme - a long sandy beach near Dalaman - 30mins, Sarsala bay - 30mins, Ekincik - 40mins, Olu Deniz - 40 mins.

Boat trips can be taken from the harbour to visit the 12 Islands.

Charter flights to Dalaman airport operate from most regional UK airports. Flight time approx 4 hrs.

Due to the opening of the Gocek tunnel it is now only a 20 min transfer from the new airport at Dalaman.

We can arrange for you to be collected at the airport by a local driver.
Car hire can be arranged locally for a week or just a few days.

Directions will be provided for guests arriving independently.

The villa, consisting of two apartments, is built in traditional Turkish style, and is one of a pair. The other villa is kept primarily for the use of the owner but this accommodation can often be made available.
Both are separated by terraces and a private pool - 5.5m x 10.5m and 1.3 - 1.6m in depth which is solely for the use of the two villas.

The spacious internal area of each apartment (48sqm) provides an open plan dining / kitchen/living area with storage and log fireplace. The fully equipped kitchen area has a 4 ring hob with cooker hood and extractor fan, refrigerator with small freezing compartment, kettle, toaster, cafetiere. A small fire extinguisher is fitted for your safety. The two bedrooms - one twin/double, and one small double, both have air conditioning, luxury quality beds, clothes hanging space, bedside table, lamp, and chest of drawers with mirror above. In addition there is a built in wardrobe with drawers, shelves and hanging space in the larger bedroom. The fully tiled and fitted shower room has a corner shower with sliding doors, WC with in bowl bidet, wash basin with illuminated mirror over, shaving point and hairdrier.

There is a large area in the basement connected by a marble staircase, providing luggage storage and laundry facilities - iron, ironing board and washing machine, a large refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher . An extra double bedroom, shower room / WC can also be found in the basement and together with the ground floor apartment could be made available for a larger number of guests at a supplement.

Television, DVD and CD players are not provided in order to maintain the peaceful ambience. Guests are welcome to bring an ipod or dvd player for personal use.

Fragrant white and blue jasmine, roses, honeysuckle,colourful shrubs and hedging together with lemon, orange trees and banana palms create an attractive walled garden.

Sun loungers, sunshades, and small tables are provided around the pool terrace and there is an external shower for use before and after swimming.

The pool has underwater lighting to provide evening ambience when dining on the terrace.

A deposit is required to secure a booking.

A refundable breakage deposit of £100 is required with the payment of the final balance due 10 weeks prior to the start of the rental.
