The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
With over 300 days of sunshine, stunning mountain scenery, turquoise blue waters & white sandy beaches, this area of Turkey will truly amaze you.
There is a real green & lush feel for the area. Agriculture is still the main industry of the area, with farmers offering their produce at local markets. Try fresh figs, oranges, pomegranates, lemons etc. all picked fresh.
The area is also known for its ancient sites, from ruined cities like Pinara, Myra & Xanthos, to Lycian tombs carved into the rocks. A drive around the area will reveal many ancient sites & settlements, with vast tracts of open countryside to explore.
Visit any area & you will meet friendly locals who simply cannot do enough to make you welcome.
The beaches are a must, with many boasting the EEC blue flag.
Also a boat trip is not to be missed, with swimming, snorkeling, diving, fishing off the boat.
This area really does have something for everyone. Come & enjoy it, find out yourselves, & we are sure you will return again & again.
Gocek has changed over recent years, from a very small fishing village, to an upmarket large village, with yacht marinas, boutique shops, top quality restaurants, bars etc. It still however retains its traditional roots & feel, with boatyards still making traditional wooden boats, small 'cottage' industries producing clothes & crafts, farming & traditional markets etc.
A walk along the sea front is a must at any time. In the evening it becomes a truly international meeting point, with yacht & boat crews from all over the world eating & drinking in the many bars & restaurants overlooking the sea.
Other large towns to visit nearby include Fethiye (25km), Dalyan (45 km) or even Istanbul (1.5 hrs flight from Dalaman).
A bit of internet research will reveal so many things to do in the area. Come and see!
