The Sporades region
The Northern Sporades chain consists of the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnissos, Skyros, and the smaller islands of Peristera, Gioura, Kyra-Panagia, Skatzoura and others. They are adjacent to the huge island of Evia. On Skopelos you will find some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in the Greek Aegean Sea.
If you arrive in the island with your own boat or rent one you have the good fortune to swim on gorgeous solitary beaches. By car, motorbike or bus with its frequent trips between Skopelos and Glossa you will discover the endless Milia, the tiny Andrines, the unique Kastani, or Hovolo, Limnonari, Staphylos and Velanio, one of the island's loveliest beaches, a favourite with nudists and those who enjoy walking. On incomparable Panormos an evening swim is an unforgettable experience, as you seem to swim in a river of golden water, while the sun is sinking beneath the horizon
Glossa, Skopelos Home of the movie "MAMAMIA" -Skopelos (Greek: S??pe???) is the main town on the island of Skopelos. The island is located east of mainland Greece, northeast of the island of Euboea and is part of the Prefecture of Magnesias in the Periphery of Thessaly. It has a port and a small airfield. The town of Skopelos was honoured as a Traditional Settlement of Outstanding Beauty In island legend Skopelos was founded by Staphylos (Greek for grape), one of the sons of the god Dionysos and the Princess Ariadne of Crete. Historically, in the Late Bronze Age Skopelos, then known as Peparethos, was colonized by Cretans who introduced viticulture to the island. (19/10/1978 Presidential Decree 594,13-11/78, signed by President of Greece Konstantinos Tsatsos). This is the Greek equivalent of a site of Outstanding Architectural Inheritance. The building code for new construction and renovation within the village reflects some restrictions due to the Traditional Settlement decree. Some restrictions stipulate that no new buildings shall be of more than two stories, there must be a sloped cermamic or stone roof in the traditional style, and doors, windows and balconies be made of wood. Glossa
Glossa, the northernmost village on Skopelos, is a sleepy hillside cluster of little houses, two tavernas and a café bar, a supermarket and a small selection of shops. Narrow, cobblestone streets pass whitewashed houses and old Venetian towers, which look out across the sea to the island of Skiathos. One of the higher hillside terraces of the village contains the small, main square where the village men sip coffee and click rosary beads in the shade of a large mimosa tree. A five minute drive from Glossa village takes one down to the small port and pebble beach of Loutraki with its peaceful waterfront, shaded by plane trees, of tavernas and bars, which overlook a colourful assortment of fishing boats. Surrounding valleys of olive and almond groves sweep down to two coastlines of beaches, one of which is overlooked by the impressive church of Agios Ioannis, perched atop a rock risen from the sea.

"A superb location 10 yards from the sea - also a lovely small & relaxed island - SUPERB!"
The Dionysos Studios are in a superb location over looking the sea & 200 yards from the harbour of Loutraki. The island is small & very beautiful, with a typically relaxed Greek style. The tavernas & restaurants in Loutraki & Glossa (the beautiful village above) were excellent! Overall, a brilliant laid-back & relaxing holiday. Recommended!
