Fully modernised.

A traditional Highland cottage it has been in our family for 25 years. It sleeps 4 plus little ones . It has been fully updated, with a new kitchen, and new bathroom, it is spotless. TV, Wifi connection, you name it, we've got it. We try very hard for our guests but there are three possible issues. The cottage is not suitable for wheelchairs, but the bannisters may help up the stairs for people with walking difficulty. The bath is small because we cannot extend the bathroom without compromising this lovely traditional Highland cottage. We took out the coal fire because it was too much trouble for guests, messy, and took too long to heat up.

Around the cottage

You are surrounded by mountains, sea lochs, and the walks are for every level. There are spectacular views along the coast, up the hills, around the bays. The best Glencoe hotel is five minutes walk away for bar meals, and an indoor swimming pool. Evening entertainment in Glencoe itself.

What to do in Glencoe.

Glencoe has the most spectacular walks and the most dramatic mountains. It has everything you need for your holiday.

Fancy doing Ben Nevis? 35 minutes away. The wildlife begins outside the back door and in the bay. Otters in the bay, Sea eagles overhead.. Fishing, two minutes walk.

Golf five minutes' drive. (You can use our cottage golf clubs) Cycle the special track along the coast. Take a boat trip to see the Whales. Take your skis to Glencoe Mountain. Climb a couple of Munroes, 3,000 foot mountains, one grows out of our garden. White water canoeing on the River Etive.

Or do very little, just enjoy. Have a drive.

Just amble around doing very little as Gillian and I do. Get up late, coffee at Crafts and Things, 4 minute ferry trip to Ardamurchan then the Isle of Mull for lunch at Tobermory. Afternoon tea overlooking the famous Stalker castle. You can let the youngsters play in our little Highland Garden, totally safe. From our cottage you can drive to Inverness and back in a day, drive to the Isle of Skye and back, drive to Edinburgh, Loch Lomond and back in a day. History is deeply embedded in Glencoe.

Shops and so on.

Very well stocked local Co-op four minutes' drive. The Highland towns of Fort William and Oban are each 30 minutes away with, supermarkets, shops, plus steamer trips to the Isles, things to do in the wet, leisure centres, swimming pools.

But take care. Glencoe is a magnetic place. People come back year after year, and never run out of new things to do. Don't forget. To get an INSTANT UP TO DATE ANSWER on availability you MUST see our website bayviewkentallen. co uk

About this location

The Glencoe region

This is the most gorgeous playground in the world. We have everything here. Look at these public research results.

The Scotsman newspaper asked its readers to vote for the Seven Wonders of Scotland. 50,000 voted. Glencoe came 4th, the first place named outside Edinburgh.

1500 cyclists were asked for their opinion of the Most Scenic route in Britain. They chose the road to Glencoe from Loch Lomond and across the Moor of Rannoch.

A world survey chose the Buchaille Etive Mhor as 9th in the list of the World's Greatest Views. Sydney Opera House was first.

The photos taken by our guests show the story. You MUST look at our website You can read What They Don't Tell You About The Glencoe Massacre there. (It wasn't a Massacre, and the Campbells took the blame)

Ps. The cottage is gorgeous, too. It has everything you want, all up to date. See the website

Glencoe Village

The weather. We are fortunate in Kentallen because we have a micro climate here. The rain clouds come in from the West, and dump the water in Glencoe itself over the hill from us. In Winter, when Glencoe is blocked with snow, you will hardly find any in Kentallen. Ours is the escape route. The Gulf Stream looks after us.

20 of the most spectacular walks in the Scottish Highlands are around the cottage area. From strenuous hill climbing, to a quiet stroll in the forest at Glencoe lochan or a meander around Cuil Bay. Look at the photos which were taken by our guests.

You can look for the otter family in the Bay. (They are near the pier. Watch quietly). The Sea Eagles fly in from Mull, and we have proper eagles in Glencoe itself. Two seal rocks nearby, two cormorant rocks just off the road.

Book sea trips from Oban using our computer provided in the cottage and our free Wifi,

Golf, you can use our cottage golf clubs, cycle the special track along the coast (hire a bike locally). A boat trip to see the Whales. Skiing at Glencoe Mountain and Glen Nevis. Climb the Mountain which grows out of our Highland Garden. White water canoeing on the River Etive. Watersports. Canoeing. Fishing - use the old stone pier 200 yards away. Use the rod and line we have in the cottage.

Or just take the kids to Tobermory in Mull, or to see the Harry Potter train, or to find the famous Nessie in Loch Nevis, about an hour away. Maybe just a day spent in Fort William, looking at Inverlochy Castle, bouncing in the children's park, while you play squash in the Leisure centre, go to the Swimming Pool or shop in the supermarket.

"Lovely cottage in a great location for a great price. :-)"

My partner and I were here for a wonderful week. The views were delightful, lots of walks of all standards. We got to the top of a 3,000ft mountain just behind the cottage. The cottage was everything … More

I'm so sorry, this made us sad too. No one likes complaints but they always tell us something that we may be getting wrong. We will make sure the skirting and tops of doors are dusted every week and we thank Mr H for mentioning them.

We have no complaints about Mr.H. He left the cottage in a tidy condition and paid for the heating on departure. Apart from the dust the other matters are pointed out by us to guests before they book. They have always been in our website and we have now highlighted them in the notes we send to guests.

They read as follows. "Three things you might need to know before you book. Disabled access, the cottage is not suitable for wheelchairs, although we have put bannisters up the stairs for folks with walking difficulty. Also we deliberately took out the coal fire because of the mess, and it took too long to heat up. After a long day in the hills, you just want to turn on instant heat. Finally, this is a traditional 19th century Highland cottage and we definitely do not want to compromise it in any way by building extensions. This means the bathroom is too small for a full size bath, we have what is called a cottage bath and shower. Sorry about that, hope you understand"

We ourselves will always raise a complaint with an owner first because we need to find out if we have missed something. If then we do not receive a satisfactory reply then we might attempt to damage them and their reputation in public with a bad review. We have not seen the need to do it yet.
