Further details outdoors:
A small burn runs down the side of the property into Loch Sunart which is a sea loch. The burn is home to otters and small fish often red deer can be seen crossing it at dusk. At occaisional spring tides the sea comes to within a few yards of the front door but usually a short walk will take you to the shore and the floating jetty. There is a swing seat to watch the world go by, a shed containing barbeque items etc and another shed full of dry logs if you want to light the stove.
Next door there is the building which was once the Clan Morrison Hotel but this is now closed and is only occupied by Alan and Sian Morrison who look after the Cottage when we are in Edinburgh. The area around the cottage holds a population of pine martens and if some peanut butter or jam is left outside these creatures will usually turn up after dark to feast. There is a security light which will come on to a;lert you that there is a pine marten about..

The Scottish Highlands region
Ardnamurchan is located on the famously stunning West Coast of Scotland and is a long, narrow peninsula along the shores of Loch Sunart. It includes the most westerly tip of the British Mainland.
Ardnamurchan is popular with those who are looking for a quiet remote holiday with masses of wildlife on land and water. Many of our guests hire a boat from nearby Ardnamurchan Charters and explore the loch and others bring their own boat to launch. There are mountains to climb, lochs and sea to fish and a surprisingly good selection of pubs and restaurants. The nearest supermarket is 40 miles away at Fort william but there are village shops at Acharacle which is about 8 miles.

Loch View Cottage is great little cottage hidden in Ardnamurchan. We booked it hoping to see some local wildlife and were certainly not disappointed. We had been advised by the owner to smear some... more |

Great stay at Lock View. The wildlife we saw was amazing Pine Martins & Deer just feet away in the garden at the cottage. Seals we saw on the bank & from our 2 man kayak, they are very nosey and came very close to inspect us. On our travels we saw Buzzards, Eagles, Otters. I would recomend a stay at Loch View Cottage to any family that is looking for peace & quite mixed with adventures when required. |
