Glenbeigh

The picturesque village of Glenbeigh is a popular holiday destination nestled at the foot of a well wooded mountain and close to the head of Dingle Bay. Many Fianna legends centre around the village of Glenbeigh where Diarmuid and Grainne are believed to have spent some days hiding in a cave in the valley of the Behy, and Rossbeigh is said to be the location where Oisin and Niamh took to the sea on their white horse to live in the land of youth - T?r na n?g. Rossbeigh beach (500 yards away) has a superb beach popular with families, 1.25 miles from the village of Glenbeigh. The great 6.5km/4mile sweep of sand offers spectacular views across the bay to the Dingle Peninsula. This is a popular swimming and walking spot for locals and visitors alike. To reach the beach take the right exit at the end of the village and continue for 3km. The Glenbeigh Races are held at Rossbeigh Beach every year in August. Glenbeigh is an ideal location for horse riding, and for fishing, with seven fishing lakes among the mountains. There is also golf, tennis, canoeing, mountain walking and orienteering. The village has some lovely old pubs with regular sessions of traditional music, song and dance, and you will find restaurants serving both local specialities and gourmet delicacies. There is a trekkers' haven - both beginners and advanced riders are catered for. The Ring of Kerry Centre's treks all include Rossbeigh Beach and the mountains. Children can enjoy riding on the farm that accompanies the centre.

"Lovely location, private, clean and comfortable."

My family (2 adults, 2 kids and a medium sized dog) were using this cottage during a visit to family in Killarney. Lots of room, kids especially liked the open area under the stairs, which they used a… More
