The West Country region
The little village of Baltonsborough, birthplace of St Dunstan, is ideally placed in an area of outstanding natural beauty. From here you can explore the stunning Levels and Moors – Home to otters, water voles and a host of other wildlife. For those who are interested in coarse fishing, we are spoilt for choice with a variety of swims. (Glaston Manor Angling Association ) Barely 3 miles away is the ancient town of Glastonbury, overlooked by Glastonbury Tor with St Michael’s Tower on top. Here you can find the medieval Abbey, the Chalice Well & Gardens, the Glastonbury Thorn and the Rural Museum of Somerset. Close by is ‘that most poetic of English Cathedrals’ in Wells and the 800 year old Bishop’s Palace.
Not forgetting Montacute House & Gardens, Haynes International Motor Museum and The East Somerset Steam Railway. There is the famous gorge and caves at Cheddar and Wookey Hole, and for a serious discount shopping experience there is the outlet village at Clarks in Street.
This is a superb area for a memorable holiday at any time of year.
