Relax on the raised stone terrace at the end of the garden, overlooking the Abbey Grounds, listen to the ducks quacking by the ponds. In summer the views over the duck pond are leafy and green, in autumn and winter the views over the Abbey grounds are quite spectacular. The 1st floor bathroom and 2nd bedroom overlook the Abbey grounds.

The cottage was sympathetically restored in 2010. The upstairs has white painted floor boards and rugs, the stairs and lounge are carpeted and the kitchen has an easy clean hard floor. The conservatory has a terracotta tiled floor.
I suffer from dust allergy, so you are assured of a high standard of cleanliness. The vacuum has advanced Hepa filtration, and mattress protector covers are aired between each guest and frequently washed! Pillows are synthetic, duvets are 'like down' Microfibre. The double bed has a lush memory foam topper (received much praise). If you prefer 100% cotton sheets, just ask (we use both mixtures and pure cotton ones).
We have recently moved next door so are available at any hour if you need us. Moonstone Cottage has a very special atmosphere, and people say 'it's the sort of place one never wants to leave'.
|Further details outdoors|
The garden is divided into three sections, first the patio by the kitchen and conservatory, then lawns, shrubs, roses, benches, and finally (through the grapevine arch, the third section with a raised stone terrace, seating and patio heater overlooking the stunning Abbey Grounds.
There is a log shed, logs are available for purchase during autumn and winter. You can bring your own, but only seasoned hardwood logs are accepted firewood. The Norwegian Jotul Wood Stove is so efficient, it heats up the whole cottage. There is central heating as well, and the cottage is toasty and warm even during the severe cold snaps we've had in 2011 and 2012. Some of our guests prefer to use only the wood burner, and some prefer to use only the central heating. It's up to you.
The West Country region
The West of England is a major holiday destination, offering the best of British countryside along with delightful towns and seaside resorts.
Glastonbury has long served as the Mecca of the British Isles, representing all faiths and traditions, an eclectic and interesting town, steeped in history, myth and legend. Allegedly the burial place of King Arthur (just accross the stone wall at the end of the garden of Moonstone Cottage), at Glastonbury Abbey. Glastonbury Abbey was once the largest and most important in the British Isles, and a place of pilgrimage.
Before the sea water was pumped off the levels to provide fertile agricultural land, Glastonbury was 'The Isle of Avalon', lower parts of this town were once under water. Glastonbury Tor is the famous landmark of the area, visible from afar accross the level landscape of Somerset. Tthe Chalice Well gardens and Rural Life Museum are major visitor attractions, and Glastonbury High Street is lined with cafes, restaurants and quirky shops. The cathedral City of Wells lies just 5 miles away, and shoppers will delight in the variety offered by nearby Clarks Village in the town of Street.
Last but not least - in addition to being eclectic, cosmopolitan, unusul and quirky, Glastonbury is a wonderfully friendly town.

"Cosy, Comfortable Cottage with Beautiful Energy"
We loved staying at Moonstone Cottage and would readily stay there again. Katarina is so helpful and friendly. Everything we needed was well catered for. This cottage is in a great position close to a… More
Thank you! It would be wonderful if C makes it back to Moonstone to write her book. And yes, Glastonbury needs a second by-pass (there is already one from the Wells direction) to route traffic away from some of its most historic parts! It was really lovely to meet you all and we are pleased you had a good stay. Blessings

Thank you for this - how we cherish surprise guest reviews!! You last stayed in our London property some years ago (sold to enable purchase of Moonstone Cottage). It was such a great pleasure to be able to accommodate you again and no small miracle you managed to fit Glastonbury and Moonstone Cottage (all the way from Down Under) into your busy itinerary.

We are so glad and grateful for your comments. What a relief to be able to (unwittingly) cater for someone with o.c.d. and pass the test. I often wonder if perhaps I have gone un-diagnosed myself?! But obviously cleanliness is very important in a holiday property, I am glad to say we try our very hardest to keep up the standards. Thanks so much for taking the time to review Moonstone Cottage

"A perfect vacation home"
A very pleasent apartment; beautiful garden; clean and well-kept; all utilities in perfect working order; a nice and very helpful host. Also, the house is ideally situated, within a short walk from the town centre, the Tor, the Chalice well, and of course the Rifleman's Arms. If I want to go to Flastonbuty again, I wouldn't hesitate to book the Moonstone Cottage again. Note: Bedrooms are uo the stairs, so it might not be suitable for people with disabilities.
How lovely, thank you and it is wonderful you had a good holiday at Moonstone Cottage. We hope to see you again one day should you return to Glastonbury. It was great to meet you and your family. N.B. Indeed the two bedrooms and bathroom are on the first floor. Regrettably this cottage is not suited to those who are unable to climb stairs. There are handrails on each side of the steps and there are 13 steps.

Thank you, how wonderful! We are pleased to report there is now another arm chair in the lounge. We have replaced the one in the bay window which had arms but was not a soft lounger. Yes we had that dreadful flu over Christmas, horrid. We are so delighted you had a good time at Moonstone Cottage. It was great to meet you and interesting to have a chat.

Thank you for reviewing Moonstone Cottage - it was great to meet your lovely family. Our first dryer has become an essential I wouldn't do without. Not sure how we managed before (what with sheets and towels as well as our clothes). However we hope guests will be happy to use our dryer for the time being (space factor) and thanks to your comments we will make sure to mention this on every check-in :) Many thanks.
