The cottage was sympathetically restored in 2010. The upstairs has white painted floor boards and rugs, the stairs and lounge are carpeted and the kitchen has an easy clean hard floor. The conservatory has a terracotta tiled floor.
I suffer from dust allergy, so you are assured of a high standard of cleanliness. Both the vacuum for guest use and our own has advanced Hepa filtration, and mattress protector covers are aired between each guest and frequently washed! Pillows are synthetic, duvets are 'like down' Microfibre. The double bed has a lush memory foam topper (received much praise). If you prefer 100% cotton sheets, just ask (we use both mixtures and pure cotton ones).
We have recently moved next door so are available at any hour if you need us. Moonstone Cottage has a very special atmosphere, and people say 'it's the sort of place one never wants to leave'.
|Further details outdoors|
The garden is divided into three sections, first the patio by the kitchen with table & chairs, then lawns, shrubs, roses, swing seat under the grapevine, sun loungers, and finally (through the grapevine arch), the third section with a raised stone terrace, table and benches overlooking the stunning Abbey Grounds.
There is a log shed, logs are available for purchase during autumn and winter. You can bring your own, but only seasoned hardwood logs are accepted firewood. The Norwegian Jotul Wood Stove is so efficient, it heats up the whole cottage. There is central heating as well, and the cottage is toasty and warm even during the severe cold snaps we've had in 2011 and 2012. Some of our guests prefer to use only the wood burner, and some prefer to use only the central heating. It's up to you.
The Somerset region
The West of England is a major holiday destination, offering the best of British countryside along with delightful towns and seaside resorts.
Glastonbury has long served as the Mecca of the British Isles, representing all faiths and traditions, an eclectic and interesting town, steeped in history, myth and legend. Allegedly the burial place of King Arthur (just accross the stone wall at the end of the garden of Moonstone Cottage), at Glastonbury Abbey. Glastonbury Abbey was once the largest and most important in the British Isles, and a place of pilgrimage.
Before the sea water was pumped off the levels to provide fertile agricultural land, Glastonbury was 'The Isle of Avalon', lower parts of this town were once under water. Glastonbury Tor is the famous landmark of the area, visible from afar accross the level landscape of Somerset. Tthe Chalice Well gardens and Rural Life Museum are major visitor attractions, and Glastonbury High Street is lined with cafes, restaurants and quirky shops. The cathedral City of Wells lies just 5 miles away, and shoppers will delight in the variety offered by nearby Clarks Village in the town of Street.
Last but not least - in addition to being eclectic, cosmopolitan, unusul and quirky, Glastonbury is a wonderfully friendly town.

"We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing week in Moonstone Cottage."
Moonstone Cottage is perfectly situated for exploring Glastonbury and the Somerset Levels. It is very comfortable and well-equipped and the garden is delightful. The owners are extremely welcoming and helpful.

We booked Moonstone cottage due to it's proximity to the Tor as we had our handfasting ceremony at sunrise on the tor at equinox weekend and we were not disappointed. Katarina (the owner) and her family were such wonderful hosts from end to end. On arrival Katarina was super helpful and lovely and had bought us chocolates, wine and a beautiful Glastonbury card but best of all she had baked us an apple crumble using her own garden apples and it was AMAZING!!! The cottage itself is absolutely charming and has everything you will need and a great mind, body, spirit book library, tonnes of dvd's and even a collection of chilled music for you to bliss out on. We had a wonderful weekend and our stay at Moonstone was a big part of that.

"A perfect vacation home"
A very pleasent apartment; beautiful garden; clean and well-kept; all utilities in perfect working order; a nice and very helpful host. Also, the house is ideally situated, within a short walk from the town centre, the Tor, the Chalice well, and of course the Rifleman's Arms. If I want to go to Flastonbuty again, I wouldn't hesitate to book the Moonstone Cottage again. Note: Bedrooms are uo the stairs, so it might not be suitable for people with disabilities.
How lovely, thank you and it is wonderful you had a good holiday at Moonstone Cottage. We hope to see you again one day should you return to Glastonbury. It was great to meet you and your family. N.B. Indeed the two bedrooms and bathroom are on the first floor. Regrettably this cottage is not suited to those who are unable to climb stairs. There are handrails on each side of the steps and there are 13 steps.

"Fabulous Place to Stay"
This cottage is fantastic - best two nights sleep I have had in ages and nothing was lacking. Personal touches around the cottage have been made by the owner to make sure the place has a "loved" feel about it - it feels like a home :-) Beautiful garden looking out over the Abbey grounds was especially nice first thing in the morning and only a 5-10 minute walk into the town centre. With the additional warm welcome from the owners of the cottage this is a "must stay" place and I would recommend to any couple, friends or small family who are looking for somewhere comfortable, reasonably priced and close to town in Glastonbury :-) x

"The most magical place to stay in Glastonbury"
Moonstone Cottage was a delight to stay in. It was immaculately clean and decorated to a high standard. All the facilities were first class - from a log burner to WiFi internet. There were lots of toys and games for the children and the garden is beautiful - over the wall are the Abbey grounds. It is ideally located - just a few minutes walk from the centre of town with a lovely view of the Tor from the front of the cottage. Katarina and David were friendly and perfect hosts - we could not have asked for more. This is probably the best place we have stayed in with the family. It was a magical weekend and we were all sorry to leave - we can't wait to return soon! Julian, Vic, Olivia, Trixie and Poppy.

Wow!, right from the start, before Julie and I even arrived at Moonstone Cottage in the incredible energy of Glastonbury, Katarina couldn't have been more helpful in her communication. When we finally did arrive, Katarina couldn't have been more welcoming and warm, nothing was too much trouble. Julie and I really appreciated the extra touches of the bowl of chocolates, the lovely bag of crisps and the delicious bottle of wine, they were all thoroughly savoured and enjoyed over our 3 night stay. The cottage was perfect for our needs, with a lovely cosy log burner and central heating. There was a great selection of DVD's and CD's for the evenings and the double bed was super comfortable. We used the free Wi-Fi for the few times we needed to communicate with the outside world. The outside garden was just lovely, with a beautiful raised stone patio area at the very end of the garden. Katarina even invited us to help ourselves to the gorgeous and fully flavoursome grapes, which had truly benefited from 2011 Indian Summer conditions. Our entire stay, our car remained parked in the off road Cottage parking space and we simply walked everywhere. The town centre, the Tor, the gardens and the many other delightful nooks and crannies that Glastonbury has to offer, were so close. In fact, at the end of our stay, we really didn't want to leave!, the cottage has such a warm and welcoming feel, it really was a home away from home!. All credit to Katarina, the place is spotlessy clean too. One day in the future, when we return to Glastonbury, we only hope that Moonstone Cottage will be available for us to stay in again, to remember the beautiful memories of our previous time, a time of such fun, Love, relaxation and the beautiful high energy, that one has to experience in Glastonbury. We hope that those of you who read this review and get to stay in Moonstone Cottage, enjoy the stay as much as we did. Love and Light. Shane & Julie.

"Reflects the ambience and delight of the town"
Moonstone cottage simply cannot disappoint. It has been decorated with loving care and quality cottage style furniture and is kept beautifully clean. It is a deeply peaceful place, yet close to town, it took ten minutes to walk in. You can see Glastonbury Tor from the main bedroom window and the Abbey grounds are beyond the fence. The garden is a lovely space, we have found we wanted to be back at the cottage for at least a third of the day to enjoy being in the cottage. In the kitchen on our arrival there was a bottle of wine and chocolates on the kitchen table on top of a warm and friendly welcome from the owner. Can't tell you how welcome this was after journeying.

"Wow! A real delight for people who love home comforts on holiday!"
Moonstone cottage is fabulous. It has everything you could possibly need to make your stay very comfortable and welcome. Katarina, who owns the cottage was/is lovely and even left a bottle of wine and choccies which we promply ate and drank on the first night! The lounge is cozy and atmospheric, the kitchen a joy to cook in (when we weren't out exploring the local area) and the garden is amazing. The weather was beautiful during our stay and it was a pleasure to sit on the raised platform at the bottom of the garden looking over into Glastonbury Abbey Grounds - we even saw a badger who we named Brother Kerfuffles. It was full of interesting nooks and crannies and very nicely decorated with thoughtful touches e.g. plenty of candles, great DVD library etc. The location is perfect - nice brisk walk to and up the Tor and the town is 5 minutes away for some great pubs and eateries. You're surrounded by numerous places to visit by car or there are plenty of buses. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and hope to come back one day. Thank you Katarina, bright blessings x

Service: Very fast response to e-mail enquiries and friendly arrival meeting. Departure was easy and uncomplicated. Cottage What we liked about Moonstone is hard to define, but you feel welcomed by the cottage as soon as you arrive. The atmosphere is one of “home-from-home” and we felt relaxed during our stay and enjoyed the table at the bottom of the garden with its view into the Abbey grounds. Location: Great location for shopping, walking, exploring or just chilling in the Chalice Well gardens, or the garden of the cottage itself. A walk up the Tor is worth it for the view and to try and soak in the atmosphere of this spiritual place. A short drive will take you to the historic town of Wells, with its beautiful cathedral. We were a tiny bit disappointed with Cheddar gorge, because we remember it as it was back when we were a lot younger. However we did enjoy our tour of the Cheddar cheese factory. Glastonbury is a very short walk from the cottage and it exudes atmosphere, as well as having some fun shops. We are looking forward to our return visit in 2011.
Thanks ever so much. I was also grateful for your advice and help regarding the end section of the garden. It was great to meet you, and we really look forward to seeing you again in September. Bright blessings.

"Amazing welcome, beautiful cottage, stunning location!"
We were met at the cottage by the owner Katarina who is so lovely. We stayed for a weekend at the beginning of April and had a fabulous time. The cottage is so quaint and beautiful and very much looked after. It was home from home and very comfortable. The garden is wonderful and backs onto the Abbey gardens. You can see the Tor from the lounge and bedroom windows. The location is perfect and is within walking distance from the shops and the sights. A visit to the Chalice Well Gardens is recommended and i would definatly recommend going into the White Spring which is free. Overall fantastic hospitality, lovely landlady and wonderful location xx
Thanks very much for your lovely review! You were full of positive energy and feedback, and I was very glad you had such a great time. Hope to see you both again some day.
