About the home

Our charming country cottage, in the heart of Scotland offer a relaxing break away from it all. Situated right in the middle of an area steeped in Scottish folklore. There are many castles & monuments to sites ideal for a fun family day out or for the serious historian.

The cottage is only a few miles from the banks of Loch Lomond and are ideally suited to exploring Central Scotland. There are some stunning drives in the Trossachs and up towards the forests of Argyll. If you prefer some more urban pursuits Stirling and Glasgow are only a 30 minute drive away, Edinburgh and Perth an hour.

Locally there are excellent opportunities for walking, sight seeing, cycling & mountain biking, pony trekking, fishing, golf and lots more. The immediate area also offers a wide range of amenities, including shops, quality sit-in and take-out restaurants.

Our cottage has broadband access so that you can stay in touch. The cottage has been tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you would require to make your stay relaxing. French doors open onto a private garden, overlooking our fields. This means that you can enjoy the beautiful countryside without having to move.

We welcome you after your journey with home baking and wine & give a personal service throughout your stay. One of our dairy units has been completely modernised milking 400 friesians three times daily, it would be my pleasure to show you round on request.

Kitchen: The Stables has a bright & spacious dining kitchen. With welsh dresser & sofa. It is very well equipped family catering.

Reception Room: A light room, with comfortable seating for all guests, furnished classically, with french doors leading onto the patio & private garden. There is a flat screen TV with full digital channels, DVD player and a good selection of DVDs for all age groups. There is also a range of games & childrens toys.

Bedroom 1: Double ensuite bedroom, located on the ground floor, is suitable for guests with mobility difficulties. The ensuite is a wet shower room & toilet.

Bedroom 2: Double ensuite bedroom, located upstairs. The ensuite has a shower.

Bedroom 3: Twin room, master bathroom across hall.

Master Bathroom: This bright, well equipped room has a large bath, seperate shower & vanity unit.

Entrance Hall: The hallway has a cloakroom with storage.

Private Garden: The garden can be accessed from both the kitchen and reception room. There is a furnished, paved patio & BBQ with a secure lawn surrounded by farm land.

The property does have wheelchair access, but may not be suitable for all wheelchair users.

Both properties can be booked together to accommodate 10 guests.

The Central Scotland / Strathclyde / Lanarkshire/Glasgow region

The central region is steeped in Scottish history. With many sites of interest including Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument & the Culloden battle site.

There are many interesting shops in the area. Independent stores, antiques centres, ideal for wet day. We are also centrally located for a great day of shopping or a visit to the theatre in Glasgow & Edinburgh.

The Glasgow area

Throughout the summer, most weekends have a local highland games, game fayres or agricultural shows.

The month of August is the Edinburgh Festival, less than an hour away from the cottage.

Stirling is the nearest town which has a cinema, shopping centre, 10-pin bowling alley, swimming pool & leisure centre.
