About the home

Can Llopart is a large and charming farmhouse that can accommodate up to 20 guests depending on family groupings. It is situated in the valley of Arbucias, a densely wooded area, surrounded by a mountain range. This is a natural park with beautiful scenery ideal for many outdoor activities, some of our guests cycle, walk explore, eat out, visit towns, villages and museums, with days on the nearby beaches, others hardly leave the grounds, enjoying the quiet and tranquil environment, (with frequent dips into the pool).

There are a total of five bedrooms, one of which can be rented separate from the rest of the house as it is self-contained with a small but well equipped kitchen and a separate entrance.(sleeps up to 5) The traditional areas have been restored, preserving the entire original building materials and features: fireplace, stone bread-making oven, and wine making press.

A large kitchen & dining room with fireplace and seating for 20 people. The kitchen equipment includes dish washer, 4 ring cooker, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, toaster, coffee maker,electric grill, cooking & serving utensils & full service of crockery & cutlery for up to 20 people.

One of the seating rooms has TV, DVD, H F & table games. A second one (formally the wine cellar) includes a small library and radio set.

There is also a children’s corner and a cloakroom.

LA RIERA:
1 double bed and 2 single beds, 1 sofa bed, dressing room, Bathroom, TV, and direct outside access.

LA ARCADA:
Two inter-connecting rooms with 4 single beds , 1 bathroom and direct access to porch.

LA FONT:
1 double bed and a daybed, bathroom, TV, suitable for disabled.

EL CAMINET:
Self contained large room which can be rented on its own, with 1 double, 1 single bed, and 1 sofa bed. Includes concealed kitchen which is equipped with microwave, fridge, kettle cooking & serving utensils.

Further details outdoors:
The outside dining room is furnished with a dining table with seating for 15 people, a couch, low table and armchairs.

All the guests are invited to enjoy the use of the landscaped gardens, games room, swimming pool, barbeque, terrace and pool lounges.

Air conditioning unnecessary as the house's 1metre thick walls insulate it from the summer heat
Bed linen, towels, use of the washing machine and wood for barbecue are included in the prices.

Minimum booking 2 nights.
Although the property is advertised as un-staffed and for self catering guests, both, staff and full board can be provided if requested at the time of booking, allowing for a minimum of 2 weeks notice.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

The medieval town of Girona (near the airport with the same name) is 40km away( direction towards France), it's a beautiful river town with cobbled streets, stone arches and an outstanding cathedral. It also has one Europe’s best preserved Jewish quarters. Girona has two of it's many restaurants rated within the world's first 10 ! You can continue your route on the AP7 for a further 15 km, to reach Figeras, a lovely market town, birth place of Dali and home of the world famous Dali museum. Taking the opposite direction you'll travel towards Barcelona, the exciting and cultured Catalan capital is only 65 km ( 42 miles) distant from can llopart and it's easily accessible by train/car.

The Girona / La Selva area

Can Llopart is situated in the valley of Arbucias, This area is often described as 'old catalonia' and many of its hills are toped by a casle or fortress to offer protection from raiders from the coast. Can llopart sits below the castle of Montsoriu named as catalonia's finest gothic castle.

The climate in the area is typically mediterranean, warm days but still chilly nights up to March. Hot from June to September. The real winter does not usually start until past Christmas, and even in winter the days are warm while the sun is out.
From to February to January there is a Fair or celebration in one or other of the nearby villages, be produce or crafts market . In the summer moths it's the Big Feasts always with great fire work displays and street dancing, autumn it's Mushroom & Chesnut hunting season, the woods teaming with basket wilding families. At this time all the restaurants offer a variety of mushroom dishes. In the spring the big Easter celebrations include the medievel fair in Hostalric ( recomended) ans well as the religious "processions" , The renown flower carpets competitions of Arbucias and many more.

Places to visit:

0-1 kms
The nearby surroundings are tranquil but of incomparable beauty. The view is dominated by the mountains of the Montseny, with the castle of Monsoriu overlooking the Masia. The river of Arbucias can be reached within a 10 min. walk. Local restaurants " Mas gelat & El rieral" are also within a 15 min. walk.

3-6 Kms
The nearby villages of Breda, Arbucias, and Hostalric boast outstanding views, excellent restaurants and beautiful architecture. Weekly markets, fairs and festivals are held year- round. In all of them you will experience a wealth of local customs and view the way of life in rural, un-spoilt Catalonia.

15-20 Kms
The small market town of San Celoni is starting point for the many rambling routes into the Montseny,
and also boasts of the 3 * Michelin restaurant of ‘ Reco de can Fabes’. Also the towns of Blanes and Lloret de Mar, situated on the Costa Brava.

The nearest airport is Gerona which is a 20-minute drive from the house. Car hire is recommended and the house is easily reached by AP7 Motorway Exit 10, Hostaric.
