About the home

Can Cruanyes is a typical Catalonian farmhouse located in the foothills of the Pyrenees which has been recently restored and renovated into 3 individually styled apartments. The preservation of characteristic stone walls and vaulted ceilings allow the blending of old world charm with modern comfort and convenience.

Can Cruanyes extends over 20 acres of woodland and paddocks which also host the spacious non overlooked swimming pool. Here you can swim or sunbathe surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountain peaks and forests. The child friendly garden with swings, sandpit, football goal and swing ball are great fun for both the young and the young at heart!

The apartment has its own private terrace where you can dine alfresco or enjoy a glass of local wine under the stars.

There is an abundance of activities and places of interest on our doorstep including Besalu, La Garrotxa, Pyrenees, Figueres, Costa Brava, Collioure, Girona, Barcelona, Banyoles, Cadaques, Roses, Olot.

Swimming Pool at Can Cruanyes

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

Can Crunayes is on the eastern edge of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area of the Garrotxa and yet the farmhouse is still within 40 mins of the Costa Brava and its abundance of beaches.

The areas surrounding Can Cruanyes is steeped in medieval history and atmosphere, and is littered with villages boasting rambling, narrow streets, beautiful churches and various bars and restaurants.

The Girona / Tortella area

The apartment is set in tranquil surroundings and is strategically situated within the heartland of the Catalonian region in Northern Spain. The accommodation is surrounded by the imposing peaks of the Pyrenees and set within lush green forests. The immediate landscape reflects the verdant terrain of the Garrotxa, a National Park that experienced volcanic activity in years gone by.

The local area surrounding Can Cruanyes is steeped in medieval history and atmosphere. It is littered with villages boasting rambling narrow streets, beautiful churches and various bars and restaurants.

Must see places of interest are Besalu (10 mins) with its imposing twelfth century fortified bridge and Figueres (25mins) where its famous son Salvador Dali was born still appeals to thousands of visitors every year. 5 mins drive from Can Cruanyes you have secluded rock pools to take a dip or Joseph's labyrinth which both the young and old can puzzle over. The pituresque lake of Banyoles is only 15 mins.

“Great stay!” We had a great holiday in Can Cruanyes! The house is very beautiful, very peaceful and there is much to see in the area. You can have beautiful hikes, cultural visits or just relax by the pool or the sea. The landlord is very nice and helpful. You can make very nice hikes in the Pyrenees, eg Nuria. In dutch: We hadden een geweldige vakantie in Can Cruanyes! Het huis is erg mooi, zeer rustig en er is veel te zien in de omgeving. U kunt mooie wandelingen maken, culturele uitstapjes maken of gewoon relaxen bij het zwembad of de zee. De verhuurder is erg aardig en behulpzaam. U kunt mooie wandelingen in de Pyreneeën maken, bijvoorbeeld Nuria.

“Idyllic location, easy acces for Girona, Figures, Banyoles and Olot.” Well equiped, clean and tidy property. Adequate kitchen facilities, good bathroom and useful sized bedroom. Large swimming pool and sun terrace area with adjoining clothes drying lines. Attractive location at foot of hills, secluded and peaceful situation. Less than 1 hour from Girona airport and excellent access to motorway serving Figures, Banyoles, Besalu and Olot. Supermarkets available in nearby towns, local shops and markets are closer but with a more basic range of commodities. Don't miss Besalu, well worth a walk round the whole town by the river. If visiting Girona excellent food at Mimolet Restaurant on Pou Rodo below the cathedral.
