The East Anglia region

Weavers Cottage is well situated for those who like countryside and beach holidays. It is located in Gimingham village in a Conservation Area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with open views over farmland. There are many quiet lanes to explore the countryside or take you to our local beaches. Mundesley is very popular and takes only a couple of minutes by car or a lovely stroll across the fields by public footpath taking about half an hour. Mundesley beach has the added benefit of a life guard station at peak holiday times and is a lovely clean sandy beach. You will also be spoilt for choice by the many other lovely sandy beaches nearby.

The North Norfolk coast is very popular with bird watchers throughout the year and who are well provided for at a number of reserves. A fantastic sight, viewed from the cottage, and not to be missed is the spectacular migration of geese particularly during the Autumn. Children will also love to see the geese, ducks and swans on the River Mun and fishing lake in Gimingham just a 100 metres or so from Weavers Cottage.

The nearby windmill - Stow Mill at Paston can be seen in the distance from the cottage.

Gimingham

In 'Poppyland' within easy reach are the National Trust properties of Blickling and Felbrigg Halls and also Sheringham Park - offering wonderful walks through spectacular rhododendrons.

Cromer has lovely beaches and at Sheringham the North Norfolk steam railway runs through wonderful scenery to the Georgian town of Holt.

The coast road to the west leads to some lovely villages including Morston and Blakeney where boat trips are available to visit the bird sanctuary and seal colony of Blakeney Point and further on is the Queen's holiday residence at Sandringham.

The 'Fine City' of Norwich with its 900 year old Cathedral, Norman Castle and many other interesting historical sites is well worth a visit. It also offers some of the country's best shopping facilities.

In North Norfolk there are around 45 miles of coastline, with long sandy beaches, flint pebble banks and salt marshes. The rich architectural heritage of 81 conservation areas, over 2,200 listed buildings and 100 Scheduled Ancient Monuments, is set in countryside ideal for cycling, walking, bird watching or just relaxing.

There is also a vibrant arts scene in North Norfolk, with numerous concerts and live music events, thriving local theatres, a range of excellent commercial art galleries, the chance to visit artists' studios as well as a host of children's and family events.

North Norfolk also contains a diverse array of museums, offering something for everyone, whether you're interested in local history, the Broads, maritime heritage, lifeboats, motorbikes, steam railways, vintage tractors, agricultural machinery, military vehicles, windmills, air defence, gas works, Worstead spinning and weaving or seashells!

Bewilderwood and the The Dinosaur Adventure Park are great days out for children of all ages and educational as well.

The "Visit North Norfolk" website has a comprehensive list of activities and attractions for the region.

Some "Must Do" activities include going to see the seals at Blakeney Point and boating on the broads from Wroxham either on a hired self driven boat or aboard the Southern Comfort Mississippi Paddle Boat.
