About the home

Located in the grounds of a 18th century detached Cottage is this delightful self contained wood cabin, built in 2007 and set in the Blackmore Vale in North Dorset. Located midway between the ancient towns of Shaftsbury and Sherborne, it offers a comfortable holiday base, to explore the beautiful countryside and sights of both Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.

Facilities

The Cabin is a single story building of solid wood construction, fully insulated ,with modern unerfloor heating and double glazed windows throughout.
The living area has laminate flooring with under floor heating. also a separate heater for cold summer nights. A large double bed with bedside cupboards and a double wardrobe with hangers. There is a flatscreen TV with DVD , a stereo cd player and radio. Plus WI Fi is now available in the cabin.

The modern fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric two ring hob and a microwave oven for cooking, a fridge, toaster, sink unit, kettle with tea and coffee, and all the utensils provided for your stay.
The bathroom is fully fitted with a wash hand basin, low flush wc, heated towel rail, a luxury SPA bath with shower unit over and under floor heating.

In the living room, there is a comfortable seating area and also table and chairs for dining.

Quality bed linen and towels are provided along with a hairdryer.

An iron and board can be made available.

Parking is available directly outside the property.
There is a decking patio area, with table and chairs and views over the surrounding countryside.

Wi-fi is available closeby at the local garden centre. (just a few minutes in the car)

Further details

We supply on your arrival a selection of tea and coffee, milk and biscuits to get you settled in. Also some still mineral water and wine which you will find in the fridge. We can supply a food hamper if you wish just email and we can do the rest.

The West Country / Dorset region

This delightful region of the West Country, offers an immense amount of places to visit ,with many pretty villages to explore and open countryside to travel around. The ancient towns of both Sherborne and Shaftesbury are within a short drive, as is the stunning National Trust Gardens and house of Stourhead and Kingston Lacy, Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor and Barrington House. Further afield there are the cities of Bath ,with its famous baths and Royal Crescent; Longleat House and Safari Park and Salisbury ,with its beautiful Cathedral and of course Stonehenge.

The Gillingham / East Stour area

There are many good local country pubs situated in the area, with at least three within two miles of the Cabin and many more, just a few miles further away. We can recommend the Italian restaurant in Shaftesbury, or the local Indian at Henstridge. In Gillingham, there is a choice of take-away and the excellent Buffalo public house. For your convenience and basic needs, we have both a Somerfield and Waitrose supermarket locally ,with a larger Tesco’s Store at Shaftesbury.

We would be delighted to provide a Welcome Hamper (at cost and usually around £12 - £15) which will include butter, ham, cheese, milk, cereals, bread and salad just to get you started, or if you expect to arrive late.

Suggestions and ideas for your holiday, or short break ,may be found in the multitude of comprehensive tourist information supplied in the Cabin.

The property can be found on the B3092 between Gillingham and East Stour in the small hamlet of Madjeston. The B3092 runs off the main A30 from Shaftesbury to Yeovil road. or coming from the A303 turn off at the Mere junction and follow the signs to Gillingham. There you will find the B3092 to East Stour.
As you drive through Madjeston the property is on the left coming from Gillingham and right coming from East Stour.
