A village between Art and Nature

The town of Etroubles (AO) has created a portal called ExpoÉtroubles , dedicated to artistic events organized within its territory.

The motto of the initiative " a village of art and nature " does not arise by chance.

For several years the municipality of Etrouble finally is working to create an alternative economic development , environmental friendly and can offer the visitor an attractive spectacle , integrating the incomparable alpine landscape works of human creativity in a blend of rare beauty.

The first fruit of this work is the open-air museum set up in 2005 along the streets of the village .

The course is home to sixteen works by internationally renowned artists . In 2006 the route was extended with two works dedicated to the Via Francigena.

The temporary exhibitions culminated during the summer of 2007 with the exhibition of " Rodin et Claudel - création et matière " . The exhibition was visited by about 4,000 people , mainly coming from all over Europe , but also from Australia, Canada and the United States .

The event was made ??possible thanks to the personal interest of Leonard Gianadda cooperation of Cultural Parrellarte and ArtEtroubles and numerous collaborators, establishing, once again , the vocation of Étroubles to the great cultural events.

Stay tuned : we promise new and fascinating forays into the art world and I highly recommend you visit the site dedicated all'inziziativa .

During the summer season from May to September are held in the side valleys of the Valle d'Aosta fights for a humane elimination between cows called "Reines". This time I farm roads are open to the public that can reach the alpine pastures to assist the characteristic "Combats" (do not bloody!). It 'an opportunity to admire the extraordinary aletezze spectacular alpine scenery. The farm roads are also open on special occasions to get tourists to the mountain hovering to show the phases of the cheese typical of the area: the "Fontina".

Likewise, it is interesting to join the processions that combine local devotion to the trek.

the processions

Will the fear and the need for security and the mountains and forests inspire in those who pass or rather the sense of wonder and mystery that emanates from the beauty of the place , the fact is that the religious devotion of the mountain populations has always found a thousand ways to express themselves, erecting chapels and oratories a little ' everywhere, raising crosses on peaks or perpetuating the ritual processions . A constant which no exception Gran San Bernardo and Valpelline . Have a long tradition , among others, the two processions that take place on the last Sunday of June to Allein and Saint- Rhémy -en- Bosses.

The parish offers the perfect Allein the top of Mont Saron ( 2681 m ) to celebrate the Saints Peter and Paul. The root of the rite seems to always lies in the fear aroused by the sides of the mountain that looms over the country and the possibility that landslides threaten the villages of Allein . In Saint -Rhémy -en-Bosses instead you reach a small chapel dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel near the Artanavaz , while rising prayers for the weather is kind and favorable to agricultural activities .

The same parish community organizes the annual procession in honor of Our Lady of the Snows , between the parish church and town Fontintes . Takes place on August 5, the same day that Oyace pays tribute to Mary , climbing the slopes of the valley Verdona to celebrate Mass in the chapel of Notre -Dame- des- Neiges . Gignod has 4 centuries of belief in the procession of Punta Chaligne ( 2,608 m ) , which is reached each year on the 16th August, the day of San Rocco protector against the plague and epidemics in general. The religious procession held every year as a mark of gratitude to the saint, who is credited with having put an end to the plague that decimated the population of Val d'Aosta in 1630 .
