The Rhône-Alpes region

Situated in the Rhone Alps.

Faverges is a historic valley located Market Town. The valley is wide sunny and surrounded by high mountains.

However long your stay you cannot Ski every station within an hours drive or walk every summer season trail on the local map

Whatever your recreational preferences this area has it all. Superb mountain villages and beautiful Lake side communities to explore. Restaurant's are fun no matter what your budget.

Easily reached being about an hour from Geneva airport via the A41 motorway.

We recommend Google searches of Faverges Annecy and Talloires to see more than we can possibly write here.

Giez

The Chalet is on the edge of the Faverges urban area. Faverges town is a short walk from the Chalet. In the town you will find Parks; Bakeries; Tennis Courts; a Castle; 3 Supermarkets Pharmacies and all the essentials such as Ski Hire and Cycle hire. For the Golfers we have a fantastic 18 holes in the Commune de Faverges at Giez where they welcome holiday Golfers. The area is rich in Walking trails and The Bauges National Park is on the doorstep. This is a very French area that has a warm welcome for Holiday Makers.

The Skiing options:

Faverges is a valley town situated equidistant between Annecy and Albertville and about an hour and a half from Geneva and Chambery airports.

The available ski domains are too many to list so I will just list the ones I know work for different ability levels and mixed groups.

• La Sambuy is Faverges local mountain. Altitude

1150 m - 1851 m (Difference 701 m) Distance from house is about 15km. Ski Bus

from Faverges.Quite difficult skiing to cover the mountain and limited so good for a

short day. Drive time 25 minutes

• Espace Diamont is the closest large domaine with numerous access point. Altitude 1000 m - 2069 m Towns/villages at the ski

resort: Cohennoz, Crest-Voland, Flumet, Hauteluce, Les Saisies, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Praz sur Arly. Fast and easiest

access is to Crest-Voland 20Km 35 minutes. The area is on route to Chamonix / Megeve is attractive tree line skiing. Long runs

mostly intermediate grade.

• Megeve With the Mont Blanc as its backdrop, the ski resort is nestled amongst the well known mountains of Mont d´Arbois,

Rochebrune, Cote 2000 Mont Joly and Le Jaillet. The villages of Megève, St. Gervais, St. Nicolas de Veroce, Combloux are

accessible from the ski resort. The village at 800m is the classic Ski Village and very pretty. It is low so the better ski conditions are

above the village. Essential to visit but best suited to the Well Healed! About 40km drive and times can vary but allow 1 hour

minimum.

• La Clusaz has a high base at 1100 and has invested in a terrific lift system to cover the area. Lots of variety and a good

intermediate grade front face above the town. Great in good weather but as it's mostly above the tree line so can but a challenge

when cold and windy. Drive time is about 1 hour although it's close to Faverges geographically it's not mostly narrow roads. OR

drive via Lake Annecy if conditions are poor.

• Courchevel has been our personal favorite for many seasons now. The 3 valleys are the world's biggest interlinked ski area. 1100

m - 3230 m in altitude top quality skiing is almost guaranteed Brides-les-Bains, Courchevel 1300 - Le Praz, Courchevel 1550,

Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1850, La Tania, Les Menuires, Méribel, Méribel-Mottaret, Méribel-Village, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville,

Val Thorens. In this area is enough to satisfy all demands at all levels.

It's NOT cheap but it's one of the best places with runs so long you can spend the minimum time on lifts. Drive time to the first lift

at Brides-les-Bains is about 40 minutes however the gondola up the mountain takes ages. We recommend using a lift at La Tania

or one of the lower Courchevel villages. Don't miss the opportunity to ski in Val Thorens if its fine it's fantastic. I allow about 1

hours to Courchevel 1550. Weekends can be much slower so plan early starts at weekends.

• To enjoy Faverges as a ski base you do need to embrace and enjoy mountain driving.

If using your own car do invest in Winter Tyres even on 4 x 4. Do remember it's legally essential to carry snow chains just in case.

Always happy to answer specific questions.
