The house is on the edge of the small village of Gien-sur-cure within the stunningly beautiful Morvan National Park. The summers are long and hot and winters very cold. There are miles of walks, Mountain biking for the enthusiast and the village is an equestrian centre. Fishing is also available. The nearby lakes offer beaches, water sports cafes & Restaurants. Most local villages have an Auberge and/or restaurant and offer delicious french cuisine. Being adjacent to the finest vineyards of france, there are many opportunities for wine tasting. .

The Burgundy / Nievre region
The region of Burgundy is located in east central France.Its core is the fertile Rhone and Saone river valleys where routes from Paris and the Rhineland converge. Its history goes back to Roman Times and it has many Abbeys and churches,Chateaux, Medieval villages and ancient towns including Beaune, Chablis,Dijon,Macon, Vezelay with its basilica and many more. The Canal de Bourgogne and Canal du Nivenais run through the region.Sporting activities include Ballooning,Canal cruising Cycling,Golf, River trips, Cycling,and of course wine tasting. Burgundy wines especially those of the Cote d'Or are among the worlds finest.
Gien Sur Cure / Village D'en Haut area
In the centre of Burgundy is the Morvan National Park a forest formed on Granite hills and our village is at its heart. Its climate ranges from hot in summer (30C) to very cold in winter.(-8C). It specialities are Honey, Cured hams and Cheese. It has a number of Lakes.The nearest is Lac les Settons which offers a variety of water sports and beaches. Morvan villages offer signposted walks. The village is an equestrian centre and fishing is also available via the local bar (they speak some english here. Their food is wonderful and they will make you very welcome).
How to get there
Fly: Paris CDG from any UK airport .Trains run to Avallon from Gare de Lyon. Then by hire car to the Morvan National Park via Saulieu. Drive: Dover-Calais or Dover-Boulogne(Speedferries-Recommended).1. A16 via Amiens to Paris- Rue Periferique if you're brave enough. From Paris-take A6 southbound to Lyon.Leave at Jct 22 Avallon. or 2. A26 Via Reims & Troyes.N77 to Auxerre. Then N6 Saulieu. Follow signs for Saulieu then Moux en Morvan then Gien sur cure.

Further details indoors: The lounge has a Burgundy ceiling and stone fireplace with wood burning stove.(Logs are available at a small cost). It is equipped with a 'Free to Air' Salellite for english TV & Radio channels. Also French TV, DVD player etc.The Kitchen has all mod. cons.Cooking is by bottled gas and electricity. There is a study bedroom off the kitchen with a double sofa bed . Off the lounge is the 'Chambre d'enfants with 2 single bunk beds: plus a brand new shower room with w.c.and wash hand basin. Upstairs is the master double bedroom with fitted cupboards and wardrobes and a large Bathroom en suite. Ample space for a cot if required. All rooms have electric radiators. Plenty of hot water comes from the electric boiler.
Further details outdoors: Large private Garden with patio, garden furniture & features such as a well, cart etc. There is a BBQ and we have 2 adjacent fields . A pine tree wooded area at bottom forms part of the property. Parking for 4 cars to the side of the house.
