The County Antrim region

Northern Ireland's Causeway Coast & Glens is an area whose breathtaking and rugged coastline merges into the romantic landscape of its deep silent glens and lush forest parks. The wonders don't stop there as the region has been made famous by the Causeway Coastal Route which is seen as 'One of the World's Great Road Journeys' and one of the most outstanding scenic touring drives in the world.

The route is an odyssey of astonishing natural landscapes, from patchwork hills, mountain streams and waterfalls to a dazzling coastal road with majestic cliffs, golden sands and the unique glory that is the Giant's Causeway where 40,000 mainly six-sided basalt columns creat an eerie landscape jutting into the ocean.

This is the place to indulge your taste for adventure. If it's an adrenalin-rush you're after, what about scuba-diving onto the wrecks that litter our coastline; reaching the dizzy heights by gliding in the rolling thermal currents over Magilligan; riding the rolling waves as they come off the Atlantic . . . or stepping out onto the infamous rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede for a death-defying (and wobbling!) walk between the safety of the shoreline cliff and a nearby island?

The choice is yours - and there are hundreds of choices to make.

You don't have to be 'Action Man' to get active in the Causeway Coast and Glens. Activity options encompass everything from art to hovercrafting . . . and a whole lot in between. Whether you plan to polish your perfomance or try your hand at something new, there's bound to be an activity here that's perfect for you.

Giant's Causeway

The local Bushmills area is the very central point for all the north coast has to offer.

In addition Bushmills Irish Whiskey is made at Ireland's oldest working distillery, situated on the Causeway Coast. Watch whiskey making take place, and enjoy a wee taster too, as the secrets of 400 years of distilling at the home of Irish whiskey is unlocked.

Take a truly heritage experience travelling on a steam locomotive along a magnificent coastal stretch of line between Bushmills and the World Heritage Site at the Giant's Causeway.

A 15 minutes drive provides access to 6 beautiful beaches as well as many of the major activity and heritage attractions the coast has to offer.

"Superb find"

Brilliant apartment, in a quiet and peaceful location, yet less than 5mins from nearby Bushmills. Convenient location for other attractions such as golf, beaches etc. Very friendly and accommodating owner, would recommend to all.

"A real find"

Having spent week here in June 2013, we thought the Place Above was a bit of a find. It’s in a beautiful, quiet, rural location with lovely views but in easy reach of The Causeway Coast. The apartment was light and airy, with everything we needed. Lovely décor and soft furnishings, lots of room, free WiFi, decent TV(s) and a very friendly welcome from Geoff. Highly recommended.

"Fabulous rental, excellent location, wonderful host"

The loft apartment is very spacious and lovely. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need including a washer dryer. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The bathroom had both a tub and a shower with little extras like a candle and bubble bath. Wifi was available including a computer. The owner, Geoff, checked in with us every day to make sure we had everything we needed and offered suggestions on things to do and restaurants to try. We have stayed in many rental apartments while traveling and this is one of the best. We would highly recommend this rental.

"Perfect base for the Causeway Coast"

Having used 'The Place Above' as a base for the NW200 motorcycle races for the last two years I can be perfectly honest when I say I have returned and will do so again. The apartment is located just a few miles out from Bushmills in a perfectly scenic rural location. The apartment is a new build offering two bedrooms and sleeping up to six. It is well finished and well appointed. The perfect family base offering a home from home while you explore the glorious coastal treasures, play on the championship golf courses or just chillax. Being on the first floor, access is via a short staircase so not suited to wheelchair users, but in general the apartment and the grounds are well maintained and afford easy access from vehicle to apartment or garden for those with limited mobility. We have stayed twice for the NW200 (a week each time) and explored the province with this as our base. Easy and quick access to the road races via Bush Mills or into Coleraine avoids closed roads and when not racing the coast is a few miles away to explore, offering some spectacular scenery and driving from Belfast right round to Derry. However the Giants Causeway, Dunluce castle and the Rope Bridge are right on the doorstep not to mention the oldest distillery in the world right in Bush Mills (sadly no longer still in production but a tipple can still be had). The golf course at Port Rush is just a few miles away and hosted the 2012 Masters and many other courses are within easy reach. I will also point out that free wifi access is provided and a PC is available in the apartment so you can keep up to date with all your tweets, likes and pokes or update your mobile aps without incurring a huge bill while away. Even with our motorcycles we were received warmly and I can say that Geoff and Lynda have always been the perfect hosts and ensured we had everything we required to make our stays just so. And if needed they are just next door to ensure you are looked after. I will go back and so will my friends.

"Excellent apartment and easy access to all the local attractions"

I stayed at this property over the easter break in 2013 with my wife and 4 yar old son . The apartment is in excellent condition and quite large, It has everything you need to make it your ''home'' for the duration of the visit and is extremely comfortable. It is situated a few miles from Bushmills and coleraine and is excellently located to get to all the local toursit attractions for that area and never be too far away from home base. Geoff was a pleasure to deal with during the booking process and made things very easy with regards to collecting the keys etc. We would definately recommend this property to anyone, and i can confidently say we are planning on going back at stome time in the not too distant future!
