When we entered for the first time in Dar-the-Palm, we realized that we could not miss that very special atmosphere and that it would be our home. An '18th century farm, the house still retains traces of rural and traditional life: mangers, arches, niches for patron saints, passages for cats .... A courtyard away from any prying eyes, where complete privacy is assured, and a large terrace with gazebo and BBQ for cocktails and dinners looking at the sight of the countryside and the sea. This without renouncing the comfort and luxury of the Jacuzzi, the large kitchen with professional stove and the touch of Italian taste we have put here and there. Out of the village to enjoy the peace of the country, without being totally isolated. And we don't miss the pool, which in Malta generally is not more than a small splash tub, because for a comforting coolness we have the whole sea, with its incomparable scenerys. And Dewjra Bay is 5' away...

Bed linen, kitchen linen, towels provided and changed every 7 days for longer than one week stays.

Large terrace provided with a gazebo, gas BBQ, extendible table and chairs, sunbeds.

The Island of Gozo region

"Everything you can imagine, Nature has already created" Albert Einstein.

Gozo offers history, culture, tradition, together with a breathless Nature.

Gozo is an enchanting, and relatively unspoiled, Maltese island where life moves at a leisurely pace. It is greener and more rural than Malta, with magnificent landscape: from deep valleys to picturesque hilltop villages with imposing baroque parish churches and charming rustic farmhouses. The dramatic coastline has high cliffs broken by tiny creeks, turquoise bays, majestic rock formations, crystal caves, incredible stretches of limestone criss-crossed with salt pans.

There are beautiful safe beaches of red sand (Ramla Bay has been voted by international travel journalists as one of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean), but also many other places for swimming, diving, and snorkelling, some of them really secluded. No matter which way the wind is blowing, there is always a leeward swimming place to be found.

The Gozitans are proud but kind, helpful and inclined to hospitality. Living in a small place, for centuries in danger, has given to this people a strong joy of life which is displayed in an extraordinary number of feasts, celebrations, festivals where the spiritual and the secular intermingle, religion and folklore abound.

Gharb is one of the oldest Gozitan villages, where various archaeological excavations exposed the remains of Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements in the area. It is also one of the smallest villages in Gozo, for this reason the most sought-after for its peacefulness.

Its panoramic countryside tracks and valleys are ideal for walks and for relaxing. A walk to the cliffs at Wied il-Mielah, is worth every second spent. There, a spectacular natural "arch/window", not as exploited, but similar to the Azure Window of Dwejra is found.

Beautiful house which could offer a very comfortable stay perhaps in the cooler months of the year. However, we were there in mid July and our stay was made unbearable by the presence of cockroaches … More

It is at least "curious" that this guest, so "distraught", needs two months to elaborate and declare her discontent! And it is curious that she complains about a problem and does not report at all the solution: that is, the fact that the "Pest Company" intervened promptly. Moreover, a problem has to be solved when and if it occurs: I think no one wants to make use of pesticides without a real need…
This last summer has been the warmest of the past 80 years, throughout Europe; exceptionally hot with its unwelcome consequences, including the cockroaches. In support of the exceptional nature of the event reported, there are the 23 excellent testimonials that the house has received on one other web site and the great one on this same website (we work with this website only from the beginning of 2013). On the other side we got not one single complaining testimonial.!

"Fabulous country house with the spectacular coast in your "back yard"."

From the moment that we sent our inquiry, we had a terrific experience with Dar-il-Palm. Tiziana was a charming, extremely helpful and responsive hostess who I would count as a friend even after only getting to know her by e-mail. She responded promptly and thoughtfully to all of my questions and I very much enjoyed speaking with her by phone. She sent us an unsolicited helpful e-mail about 1 week before our arrival with detailed information that made our arrival as easy as could be imagined and gave us great ideas for things to do once we arrived. We nevertheless managed to get ourselves a bit lost and called Nancy who arrived within 2 minutes of our call to lead us to our destination and get us settled in with cheerful enthusiasm and continued to be available to us by phone and in person within minutes for help throughout our stay.

The house itself is best described by the pictures, set a bit apart from the village on the road to the sea so that from the terrace you look out over fields to the sea. The beds were not just beautiful but also very comfortable with crisp fresh linens of lovely quality and plenty of extra comforters for the cool nights when we were there. The Bathrooms were elegant, spacious and pristine. We love to cook, particularly with all of the access to excellent local produce and multiple convenient markets and the kitchen was very well equipped and well designed. There was a sunny breakfast room in addition to the beautiful dining space with vaulted stone ceiling.
For us, the location was absolutely perfect. Within 100 yards of our doorstep, there was a farm road leading north through fields along the the ridge looking out to the west over the ocean and the Azure Window. It made for a sunset run every night that was like something out of a dream. Not much further was the walk down over the terraced hillside to Dwerja bay, the Azure Window, the Inland Sea and Fungus Rock which easily connected to even longer rambles along the coastal clifftops to the south. We felt like we had these wonders of the world in our own back yard and took this walk almost every day. We loved the peacefulness of being a bit remote from the village but found it very easy to explore the island by car with an oasis of rural calm for our home base.
We would also like to mention the extreme friendliness and helpfulness of the people of Gozo. We found ourselves in many wonderful conversations with local people that started with small questions on our part and felt more and more at home with each passing day.
We would highly highly recommend this place and this particular house.
