The Brigantine
About the home
Our Dream has come true, we managed to buy our second home and where else but on the special island of Gozo. Having spent many of my childhood years in Gozo, this island is close to my heart. We chose to purchase this particular apartment because it's not just stone but it has a style of the old Gozo, and the way the apartments are styled. It's a village in another village and being right in the middle among the locals. It is quiet, short walk from the harbour where local fishermen hang out, ideal for enjoyable walks and for relaxing holidays.
We also offer long-lets for Winter times, please enquire for prices

Enquire nowThe Island of Gozo region
Gozo, meaning “joy” in Castilian, is the second largest Island of the Maltese archipelago, with a population of approximately 30,000.
Though separated from mainland Malta by a 5km stretch of sea, Gozo is distinctly different from Malta. The Island is a third the size of Malta, more rural and simple, its culture and way of life rooted in fishing, as well as in primitive pastoral and agricultural activity.
Exuding a relaxed pace of life, Gozo is the ideal secluded safe haven and at just 25 minutes or so by ferry from Malta, the hop can easily be made for even the shortest stay.
The real beauty of Gozo, apart from its stunning seascape and interior, lies in the villages. Here, it seems as if time really does stand still. The locals treasure their peace and the villages are tranquil, proving to be a wonderful respite from the trials and tribulations of everyday life for visitors.

The Ghajnsielem area
NAME ORIGIN
(Ghajn) spring of (Is-sliem) peace
As the visitor approaches Gozo from the sea his attention is drawn first to the high flat hills of the island. Beneath these hills lies an extensive spread of land divided in the middle by a valley which meanders its way down the sea.
Ghajnsielem has a population of around 3,000 and is the first Gozitan village that will greet you as soon as you leave Mgarr Harbour towards the Gozitan heartland. As soon as you enter Mgarr Harbour, while still aboard the ferry, you could not help but notice the welcoming landmarks of the harbour village of Ghajnsielem. Lourdes Chapel with its sharp steeple and underlying niche of Our Lady of Lourdes, Fort Chambray on the left-hand side dominating the high grounds and, on the distant background, the towering belfry of Ghajnsielem's Parish Church.
A visit to Ghajnsielem should include Mgarr Harbour and fishing village. Ideally next comes Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel from where, especially at sunset, a beautiful view of Mgarr Harbour could be enjoyed. Up there you can discover views of Gozo's southern cliffs, Xatt l-Ahmar Bay and those of the Northern Comino Channel. The narrow winding road leading to peaceful bay of Xatt l-Ahmar could be traced from there. Apart from the tranquillity of the area surrounding the convent, one could not remain anything less than charmed by the views upon the Gozo Channel particularly early in the morning or late at sunset.

the easiest and more comfortable way would be direct transfers from Malta International Airport direct to Our Apartment, which will take you onto the ferry and you wouldn't have to carry your luggages. However there are other means too, if you are familiar with our islands you can get the gozo bus shuttle from Malta Int Airport to Ferry, then organise maybe a taxi to our flat which is literally 4 mins from Mgarr Harbour. Also renting a car is an option but again sometimes after a day travelling we just want to be driven!

Gozo is a much quieter island than Malta, so great to have the choice of what to do each day. The ferries are so frequent and quick too. The tourist sites can be a bit too full at peak times, but it is easy to avoid these and still have a wonderful time. The apartment was very clean and well maintained, spacious, well equipped, practical and yet homely. The pool and sun bathing area was ideally located so there was always enough shade. It was baking hot when we went in August. We only hired a car for one of the weeks, which was absoluely fine as it is only a small island afterall, but the walk to and from the supermarket was a bit of a sweaty struggle. |

Going away with young children can sometimes be stressful but I needn't have worry as it was like a home away from home. Finished to high specifications in a lovely village it was all that we wanted and needed to have a lovely holiday all together as a family. My children loved the swimming pool and we spent a lot of the time in the complex however the island of Gozo is lovely and we were able to go around in our rented car very easily and as everything is near by we did not have to hear the dreaded " are we there yet? " from the children :-) The apartment is great value for money and I can not recommend it highly enough! A great family holiday with no complaints at all, and the lady who owns the apartment was very helpful indeed. Will love to go again for sure :-) |

Stayed here with with girlfriend, daughter and my mother during a week in August 2012. The apartment lies in a calm area on Gozo, yet close to restaurants, cafes and the Gozo ferry. There was a swimming pool, and elevators to the apartment. The rooms were clean, painted in pleasant colors and spacious with washing machines and a good variety of kitchen tools. There was a cot for our daughter, thoug a bit too big for an infant. The minus was the air condition system which was placed in the kitchen/living room, so we had to use the available fans to transport the cool air to the bedrooms. We rented a car for a few days, and it was delivered to the apartment, and everything worked out smoothly. |
