Home description
Our Dream has come true, we managed to buy our second home and where else but on the special island of Gozo. Having spent many of my childhood years in Gozo, this island is close to my heart. We chose to purchase this particular apartment because it's not just stone but it has a style of the old Gozo, and the way the apartments are styled. It's a village in another village and being right in the middle among the locals. It is quiet, short walk from the harbour where local fishermen hang out, ideal for enjoyable walks and for relaxing holidays.

The Island of Gozo region
Gozo, meaning “joy” in Castilian, is the second largest Island of the Maltese archipelago, with a population of approximately 30,000.
Though separated from mainland Malta by a 5km stretch of sea, Gozo is distinctly different from Malta. The Island is a third the size of Malta, more rural and simple, its culture and way of life rooted in fishing, as well as in primitive pastoral and agricultural activity.
Exuding a relaxed pace of life, Gozo is the ideal secluded safe haven and at just 25 minutes or so by ferry from Malta, the hop can easily be made for even the shortest stay.
The real beauty of Gozo, apart from its stunning seascape and interior, lies in the villages. Here, it seems as if time really does stand still. The locals treasure their peace and the villages are tranquil, proving to be a wonderful respite from the trials and tribulations of everyday life for visitors.
Places of interest in Gozo ; The Citadel (Victoria) Ggantija Temples (Xaghra), Calypso Cave (Xaghra), The inland sea (Dwejra) Fungus Rock & Azure Window (Dwejra) Ta' Pinu Basilica
Activities : Sea Sports, Beaches, Rock Climbing, Cycling, Diving, Horse Riding, Country Side walking, Island Cruising, Cross over to explore Malta
Beaches : Ramla bay, Marsalforn, Xlendi, hondoq ir-rummien, Dahlet il-qorrot, san blas, dwejra, mgarr ix-xini. ( they are all less then 15 minutes drive away
Ghajnsielem area
NAME ORIGIN (Ghajn) spring of (Is-sliem) peace As the visitor approaches Gozo from the sea his attention is drawn first to the high flat hills of the island. Beneath these hills lies an extensive spread of land divided in the middle by a valley which meanders its way down the sea.
Ghajnsielem has a population of around 3,000 and is the first Gozitan village that will greet you as soon as you leave Mgarr Harbour towards the Gozitan heartland. As soon as you enter Mgarr Harbour, while still aboard the ferry, you could not help but notice the welcoming landmarks of the harbour village of Ghajnsielem. Lourdes Chapel with its sharp steeple and underlying niche of Our Lady of Lourdes, Fort Chambray on the left-hand side dominating the high grounds and, on the distant background, the towering belfry of Ghajnsielem's Parish Church.
A visit to Ghajnsielem should include Mgarr Harbour and fishing village. Ideally next comes Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel from where, especially at sunset, a beautiful view of Mgarr Harbour could be enjoyed. Up there you can discover views of Gozo's southern cliffs, Xatt l-Ahmar Bay and those of the Northern Comino Channel. The narrow winding road leading to peaceful bay of Xatt l-Ahmar could be traced from there. Apart from the tranquillity of the area surrounding the convent, one could not remain anything less than charmed by the views upon the Gozo Channel particularly early in the morning or late at sunset.
How to get there
Flying from the U.K- everyday flights from Heathrow & Gatwick, flights from all other U.K airports with varies airlines including Air Malta , British Airways, EasyJet , Thomas Cook and Ryanair. Also good sites to check for other charter flights are www.expedia.co.uk, www.opodo.co.uk, www.travelocity.co.uk.
Flying from the rest of Europe and the world. visit www.maltairport.co.uk for direct flights and connections available for more accurate planning
Ideally plan your trip early and book early as you get good deals
GETTING TO OUR APARTMENT
the easiest and more comfortable way would be direct transfers from Malta International Airport direct to Our Apartment, which will take you onto the ferry and you wouldn't have to carry your luggages. However there are other means too, if you are familiar with our islands you can get the gozo bus shuttle from Malta Int Airport to Ferry, then organise maybe a taxi to our flat which is literally 4 mins from Mgarr Harbour. Also renting a car is an option but again sometimes after a day travelling we just want to be driven!
For direct transfers or taxi in Gozo contact me for a quote. I work with very friendly Gozitan family run business.
To arrange your own transfers please find the site for the gozo bus shuttle http://www.gozochannel.com/gozoholiday.html
