Home description

A glorious ski holiday and break awaits you in the beautiful Jura mountains in France. This part of France is a french secret they want to keep for themselves. We discovered it by chance when visiting friends living in Geneva. It is famous for offering an abundance of outdoor activities and there is something suitable for all ages. Skiing, Golf, Swimming, Hiking, Horse Riding, Mountain biking and Hill Walking are just some of the outdoor pursuits on offer. The apartment is 67m2 in size with a balcony of a further 20m2. There are two twin bedrooms and the two couches in the living area can be converted into double beds.

There are ceiling fans in all rooms which are perfectly sufficient to maintain a cool temperature in the apartment during the sunny French summer. The main living area is tiled while the bedroom area is carpeted. The apartment is brand new, built last year and is part of a beautiful development on the slopes of the Mount Rond. The town of Gex with restaurants, bars and shops, is a ten minute walk away.

The Rhone / French Alps / Ain region

Rhône-Alpes is an outstanding, beautiful region, which will be truly an unforgettable experience. This area is bordering Switzerland. The city of Geneva is just 20KM away.

Gex area

Gex is a beautiful quiet country village in the Jura mountains. The French take great pride in providing as much activities for their children as possible. They have provided countless parks and play grounds. There a many places to visit near by such as Annecy, Nyon, Geneva and Divonne. There are several shopping centres such as Migros, Carefore and Champion very close by. There is a shopping Mall called Val Thiory 20min by car, if you need some retail therapy.

I recommend hiring a car while in this area and a Sat Nav would be a good idea too.

This resort is just 9 minutes up the mountain from the apartment. There is plenty of parking and you can hire everything you need. The ski passes cost €23 per day.
If you don't want to drive up the mountain you can drive to Crozet 7km away and climb to the resort on a lift. Crozet/Lellex is a much bigger ski resort with longer runs and more lifts. In order to get back to the lift that will return you to your car you will have to ski down a blue slope. So if you are a beginner I recommend La Faucille resort instead.

How to get there

Fly to Geneva.
Easyjet were only £60 return the last time I checked. Aer Lingus Fly from Dublin at the moment (Jan 09) for just €80 return.
Travel by Taxi (Jaque +33607665447). Jaque speaks English and drives an eight seater. Journey time 20 minutes approximate cost €50. Make sure you call him with as much notice as possible. If you give him you flight number he will track your flight.

The Balcony wraps around the apartment and means you can sit in the sun all day long. There is a 4 seater patio table and chairs provided for dining on the balcony.

There is a lift that will take you directly to our apartment from the car park.
