"Another fantastic holiday at La Prise Boulay"
Just back from our two weeks at La Prise Boulay. The Gite was at it's normal high standard. This was down to the hard work from Pauline and Phil.
We had lazy holiday this year, not going to far from the Gite. Just sitting out on the decking in the afternoon with a good book and glass of French wine. The weather was fantastic for the two weeks very hot and sunny. We are already planning our 2014 holiday at La Prise Boulay.

"Another Fantastic Holiday at La Prise Boulay"
A big thank you to Carol & Steve for letting us have the gite at very short notice. Also a big thank you to Pauline & Phil for getting the place ready again at very short notice. We all had a lovely holiday at La Prise Boulay. The gite was was clean and tidy as it always is.
The weather was very cold all week, but you did not notice it with the log burning fire. The gite is like a second home to us. Cannot wait for our holiday in July to come around.
Best wishes Maggs & Dave Brown

"Very relaxing stay"
The four of us were looking to head to Normandy for the first time; we have boys aged 6 & 4, and had struggled to find something suitable in the right place and available when we required it (end July). La Prise Boulay fitted the bill perfectly. There was plenty of space inside and out for the kids to play in (they particularly liked the swing), and the accessories in the house were spot on. The bedrooms were comfy and clean and the location is quiet and remote, hidden amongst trees and narrow lanes. There was wildlife around every corner and each morning we were visited by a Sparrowhawk. We didn't want to leave but, sadly, had to!

"A thoroughly relaxing stay in a lovely location. Ideal for families."
Thank you for the welcome pack and the play equipment for the children. We had such a relaxing time. The cottage has everything you need to "eat in", we cooked a lovely roast chicken one night. The surrounding countryside is beautiful for an evening stroll to the chorus of grasshoppers.
Locally - Try the patisserie in Ger, the mocha gateaux is to die for! Mortain is ideal for food shopping and St Hilaire Harcourt is a perfect market. The children were amazed by livestock in crates.

We stayed at La Prise for 4 nights. We have found the welcome very warm and friendly. The unit was clean and comfortable. Would recommend this to anyone who wishes to have a quiet and relaxing retreat away from it all but still be close enough to bigger towns/cities. We would definitely go back when the chance present itself

"Fantastic house in beautiful location"
We stayed at La Prise Boulay during 1/2 term week in June and we had a truly memorable week. The cottage and gardens were stunning, we had a lovely welcome from Pauline who was also extremely helpful with local information; the wine, cheese and essentials were a great bonus! There was plenty to see and do in the area including the Grand Cascades waterfalls and Fosse Arthur and lots of funparks for the kids amusement.
The sun shone all week and we didn't want to come home.

"Perfect, relaxing, peaceful cottage and location"
We had a wonderful stay in La Prise Boulay. The cottage is beautiful and everything we needed it to be.
A very friendly greeting from the host, who made us feel at home with lots of useful tips about the local area. Plus, being supplied with some snacks, drinks and fridge essentials is a lovely touch, especially after the drive from the ferry.
The cottage is beautiful and has been well looked after. We hired it for just two adults, but it is plenty big enough for larger parties. The garden is very big and has a stunning view, with a lovely decked area to sit out and enjoy the sunshine.
The local area is very quiet and perfect for a relaxing getaway. A car is a must as you are 5km from the closest small village. My first time in Normandy and I was worried about the driving, but I have to say it was so easy and a disappointment to come back to the english roads!
The Bayeux Tapestries and Mont St Michel are a must see, along with the stunning beaches.
We would definitely recommend a stay in Normandy and La Prise Boulay was a perfect holiday home for us!

"Great place - shame simple things ruined it"
Great location, great property BUT what really let it down was when we had an issue with cleanliness the host/owner we felt unprofessional - to the point the owner accused us of being rude and put the phone down. The host did re-hoover. Having a young child with mild asthma, we asked for the property to be cleaned again as there were a lot of cobwebs in/around furniture, under bedside cabinets, in the bathroom and generally didn't look like it had a thorough dust/hoover as you would expect on a weekly basis. Photos were taken at the end of the week of the contents of the hoover (having carefully swept floors on a daily basis throughout our stay) - which was shocking, the bottom of the kitchen bin had not been wiped over for a long time, the bottom of the toilets were very dusty, not wiped over. The bed linen did not smell fresh either. General hygiene/cleaning is lacking which is a real shame as the location and property are amazing. Photos are available of the hoover, bin, tatty brush, cobwebs if anyone would like to see them ! It is interesting to see no other reviews on here - apparently we were the only ones to complain in 3 years of rental.
