The front door takes you directly into a rustic pine Kitchen/ Diner with duel fuel range cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, dishwasher, butler sink and an Isymphony stereo (you can plug your IPOD into this!) Large slate centre piece to seat 4. This leads on to the dining room which is a converted barn of large proportion with exposed beams and skylights. A dining table here seats 8-10 people and is perfect for those big dinners on a winter's night.
Also on this floor is the bathroom with a tiled and heated floor for those frosty mornings plus a twin room with a bunk room adjoining.
Situated on the first floor is the lounge. This is a beautiful cosy room of exposed stone walls, window seats, solid oak floors and a wood burner. Ample seating for everyone around the large TV. This room also has satellite viewing plus a DVD player with full surround. DVDs can be hired from the local village shop.
There is also a play station 2 here with a few games.
Access to the Annex is from this room and also the gardens.
The Annex is a separate room from the main house which holds a double bedroom and a wet room with shower, white WC, hand washbasin, electric chrome towel warmer and heated tiled floor. Ideal for those that want seclusion from the rest of the group!
This floor contains two double rooms one of which is the master with small en suite comprising white WC and hand basin, a large walk in wardrobe and French doors leading out on to one of the many decks.
|Further details outdoors|
One of The Forge's most attractive features is its enclosed decked garden of many levels. It is set out in a series of 'garden rooms': a main leisure area which is a large deck for eating out (table, chairs and parasol provided), a central area which can be accessed from French doors off of the main bedroom perfect for sitting with a glass of wine or two: and finally the top deck which is designed to take hammocks (hooks are provided – so don't forget to bring one if you have one!) where you can take in the sun sets and the countryside views. There is also a swing installed here.
The view from the decks of the beautiful village of Georgeham and the surrounding countryside is one you shouldn't miss.
We have had many families with young children stay at the house who have had a great time (our own small children included) - we do advise that there are stairs in the house and in the garden so supervision of small children is advised at all times.
Welcome Notes Provided on arrival
Bed linen provided - you will need to bring towels

About this location
The Devon region
The region of Croyde is well known for its surfing and out door activities (climbing, walking and cycling)
There are also many historic sights near by including Arlington Court, Watermouth Castle.
Georgeham itself is famous for being the home of Henry Williamson - author of Tarka the otter
One of the main attractions of the Forge is its location. The nearest beach is the award winning Putsborough Sands approximately one and half miles from the front door. If surfing is your thing you will appreciate the sounds of the waves from Croyde the well known surf spot whilst at the Forge. The village of Georgeham itself surrounds this property.
A few steps up the road takes you to the well stocked village shop, or the village restaurant at ‘The Lower House’ and of course the famous Rock Inn.
The Forge House is a perfect place for families to stay in Georgeham in or out of the summer season. With so many different levels and rooms widely spaced out there is no reason for anyone not to enjoy the time spent there.

Thank you for the feedback.
We have beeen offering the house as a holiday let for over 6 years now, and the house was run as a holiday let before we purchased it - we have never had received of this nature but would like to respond to it, particularly as it's the only tripadvisor review that has been posted and this may mislead future visitors who may wish to stay at the house. NB: there is a visitors book at the house with fantastic feedback about the great times people have had, and it's a real shame we can't just post that somewhere on the tripadvisor site.
The house is "charming and characterful" in a beautiful old North Devon village and is over 400 years old so some of the stairs are steep, and they are uncarpeted. We do have the required safety features around the house and there are locks on the windows. Furthermore, there are steps in the garden. We do advise that supervision of young children is required at all times, and we would expect parents of young children to adopt this principle at all times in any case.
We provide photos and descriptions of the house to illustrate the layout and also request that our guests contact us via email or phone before they book to confirm that the house is suitable for their individual needs. Nearly all our guests do this. We are able to send more photos on request and we always answer any questions that guests have - we would encourage anyone to do this before they book any property.
We have young children ourselves who stay at the house regularly with their young friends.
To everyone, the best advice is to consult before you book to ensure that your chosen property will meet your needs and expectations.
