The apartment is surrounded by a 10,000 square meter garden comprising of typical Italian wilderness, such as cherry trees, olive trees and wild berries. Another highlight of the apartment comes from the water supply, which is provided via your very own underground bore. The amazingly fresh spring water really is a welcome refreshment during the summer months.
The Towns and Villages which are located nearby are; Genzano, which is a beautiful town full of lively restaurants, bars and interesting shops, also the town overlooks Lake Nemi. Just a few minutes away is Velletri, the regional capital town, which offers you every and any type of shop, and holds a fantastic market on the weekend. Velletri has the main train station in the area, giving you a choice of beaches to visit, or why not go to Naples (Napoli) for a day trip. Next we have the stunning and famous village of Nemi, located only 10 minutes away, Nemi, famous for wild strawberries, and the legend of Goddess Diana of Lake, Nemi really will take your breath away ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Nemi). Situated just 15 minutes away is Lake Albano, and the Popes Summer Residence in the historic town of Castel Gandolfo, and only 20 minutes from the airport is Rome Ciampino airport, and the busy and beautiful towns of Frascati and Grottaferrata.

The Castelli Romani is a well known region to the south east of Rome. Nestled in the hills overlooking Rome. This group of towns came to prominence during the Renaissance when noblemen and cardinals alike decided to build magnificent and opulent homes here. Today, it is still a favourite weekend destination for Italians lured out of Rome by the wonderful restaurants, spectacular countryside, and authentic Italian atmosphere, which charms Italians and overseas tourists alike.
The area is famous for its olive oil production and countless vine yards, which of course produce fantastic wines. Genzano has several vineyards selling wine and olive oil direct to the public. For mountain biking, walking or horse riding enthusiasts, an “agriturismo” is a 10 minute drive away from the villa combining all 3 of these facilities. In addition to this, a further 5 minutes drive away are 3 riding schools and an Olympic show jumping and cross country equestrian school.
There are many wonderful medieval towns to discover in the region. The famous gardens of Ninfa and the amazing water gardens of Tivoli are within easy reach as are the Roman Villas of “Adriana” and “Villa d' Este”. At Torvaianica is the wonderful “Zoo Marine” park, and for sun worshippers, the beaches of Anzio, Nettuno and Sabaudia are all worth visiting, and for the more adventurous, the stunning Amalfi Coast is a 3 hour journey by car, offering amazing views of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello all of which are great for snorkeling . There are also many wonderful festivals including the chestnut festival at Rocca di Papa, the strawberry festival in Nemi, the flower festival in Genzano and the legendary wine festival at Marino. Sara and I stayed at the house in early August 2014 and had a wonderful holiday. We decided not to rent a car and were able to get a train into Rome quite easily, about an hours journey from Velletri. Lifts from Diana and Luke made this very easy for us and a big thank you for that help!
Local buses available every half hour made visiting local towns very easy and a local supermarket about 200 yards away had most of what we needed to eat and drink.
Thanks to Diana for the cheese, meats, wine and bread on arrival, extremely welcome.
The pool was clean and well maintained and was exclusively ours, great after a hot day visiting Rome. The apartment was well equipped, good cooking facilities, excellent bedrooms and bathrooms
Watch out for the nightly visit from the local swifts diving to drink from the pool around 7.30pm, very beautiful to see.
Two very good restaurants nearby which we tried, good food and value for money.
Overall a very relaxing and quiet location after a busy day in Rome
