The area is most famous for its associations with the famous artistic family of W.B. Yeats and his brother Jack Yeats; therefore, it is called the Yeats country. A summer school takes place every year in August with famous literati coming from all over the world.

The climate is like that of the U.K. A visit to Dublin or Belfast is worthwhile. Championship golf courses are plentiful green fees vary from a local course of 20 euros to 60 euros for more prestigious ones. Local 5 star KILRONAN CASTLE is 7km and fine dining is available here and at local fine restaurants.
