It is common to observe Golden and Sea Eagles passing by and hunting at the bottom of the croft and buzzards hunting around the chalet. Number 19 directly overlooks the Ascrib Islands a complex of skerries, islets, undisturbed mainland shores and offshore islands in north-west Skye consistently support a breeding colony of the common seal Phoca vitulina. The site represents one of the larger discrete colonies of common seals in the UK, holding around 2% of the UK population.
Due to the elevated position of Number 19 you have an unspoilt view over the sea below; it is common to see a wide variety of seabirds, whales, dolphin and porpoise in the waters below. "A home from home with jaw dropping views"
We've stayed in a number of self-catering places on Skye, and we can safely say this is the best. This house was built as a family home just a few years ago, as such you don't get any of the compromises you get either with a modernised older property, or a purpose built holiday home. What you get is a house built by someone who grew up in Geary, and built his house to show it at it's best.
Other reviews have tried to describe the view, but it really is very difficult to put into words, and pictures don't do it justice - you just have to come and see for yourself. Unlike most of Waternish which is famed for it's sunsets, Geary faces the rising sun - we just watched the sun rise almost every morning.
Being a local, John knows everybody in the village - the welcome pack includes produce from several of his neighbours, so we walked up to the end of the village to buy eggs, and also to get more delicious bread and cakes.
John was very welcoming and accommodating, for example since we didn't need the wi-fi in the games room he swapped it over to use the alternative router in the house for us. Knowing we were coming with small children he also ensured that toys were left for our children so we didn't have to bring many with us, he also brought new release DVD's later in the week that he had picked up on the way back to Geary.
In summary I'd recommend this place just for the views, which on an island full of fantastic views are hard to beat, but on top of that you get a well equipped, modern house that allows you to enjoy those views, along with the warm welcome from a knowledgeable local wanting to share the island he was brought up on with his guests.

"Number 19, Dunvegan"
A fantastic holiday, staying at a lovely 5 star house with all mod cons imaginable. The owner was very friendly and accommodating but not intrusive, and the welcome package was a lovely touch. The house is set in a stunning location that offers some amazing views and local attractions such as Dunvegan Castle and the Talisker distillery are easily accessible by car. Could not ask for more.

"Incredible property - magical holiday."
Right from walking in the door of Number 19 I knew we were going to experience something special. We were met by a magnificent hamper from the owners, a ready mode fire ready to light in the wood burner, and a view to take your breath away.
Throughout our stay, we experienced luxury and comfort that was simply out of this world. Quite how the previous reviewer can judge this on factors out of the owners control is a bit beyond me. The owners consistently went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us, from helping with tourism info, to calling us when bad weather was due, we simply could not have asked for more.
It is EXTREMELY easy to see why the property has been given such a high rating - if you are looking to do Skye in unrivalled luxury, I would have no hesitation in telling you too book Number 19, and book it right now before anyone else does!
