Northern Poland region
Tricity (in Polish Trójmiasto) is an urban area consisting of three Polish cities: Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia.
Gdansk (next to Gdynia and Szczecin) is the most important Polish seaport. Its history reaches 997 year. For long time was under German dominance. Destroyed during the World War II and rebuilt between 1950 and 1960. Gdansk is a real Baltic Metropolis. It is a headquarter of many science and cultural posts.
Sopot is the most famous Polish marine bathing resort called Baltic Pearl. The city was always frequented by artistic and intellectual elites. Sopot has very interesting villas and tenements with characteristic glass porches typical for resort architecture. A few XVIII century manors are well preserved. It is a real pleasure walking Sopot passages. You will feel like time has stopped here. In Sopot there is the longest in Europe wooden pier - the most often visited place by citizens and turists. The city is also famous for its Sopot International Song Festival, the largest such event in Europe after the Eurovision Song Contest.
Gdynia is called the most friendly city in Poland to live :) It is modern city, but the oldest building in Gdynia is nevertheless the 13th century St. Michael the Archangel's Church in Gdynia Oksywie. What attracts most tourists in Gdynia deals with its recent past. In the harbour, there are two anchored museum ships, the ORP Blyskawica destroyer and the Dar Pomorza Tall ship frigate. The surrounding hills and the coastline attract many nature lovers. A leisure pier and a cliff-like coastline in Kepa Redlowska, as well as the surrounding Reservation Park, are also popular locations. A 1.5 kilometre long promenade leads from the marina in the city centre, to the beach in Redlowo.
Tricity is one of the must-see places in Poland. You can find everything that you need for good holidays: kilometres of sandy beaches, beautiful food, sport activities, spa, antiques of all epochs to see, great night life and great weather. There are hot Summers in Poland, the temperature is often over 30 degrees.
* Gdynia is the host of the Heineken Open'er Festival, one of the biggest contemporary music festivals in Europe (96 concerts on 6 stages). Usually held at the end of June/beginning of July.
* The second most important summer event in Gdynia is Viva Beach Party, which is a large two-day techno party held on Gdynia's Public Beach, usually in August.
* Gdynia also hosts some events for the annual Gdansk Shakespeare Festival.
* Sopot Molo Jazz Festival 6-7 of August
* St. Dominic's Fair in Gdansk 4 - 25 of August is one of the biggest trade and cultural open-air events in Europe,
Do not forget to visit one of many wonderful jewellery shops. Pomerania Coast is an amberfield. Unique jewellery at very reasonable prices.
If you are looking for good food I personally recommend the Greek restaurant "Santorini" located in the middle of Swietojanska str. The food is beautiful and it will make you will feel like you are in Greece itself. You can also get freshly caught and fried fish everywhere in Tricity and the surrounding area. One place especially worth seing: "Tawerna Rybaki" on the beach in Sopot. You can try a wide range of fish.
If the Tricity night life is not enough for you, you can take the Stena Line ferry to Karlskrona in Sweden ang go for 24 hour party for an unforgettable experience :)

"Lovely, clean and secure apartment close to public transport and amenities"
We travelled with 2 children 13 and 10 years. We strolled into town and hadn't realised how close we were to the town centre; the tram back took us about 3 minutes. The apartment was clean, airy and spacious. We had a couple of particularly hot nights where we could have done with a fan. I had trouble with the washing machine but the owner very kindly provided email instructions (those in the apartment were in Polish). The owner provided an adaptor for us, as well as a lovely welcome pack with both alcholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There I no internet connection, I signed up to Fon NETIA prepaid service but a very poor connection (the company did refund me in full). The shop downstairs had everything, although all the basics were provided. We also met and befriended a tattoo artist and his wife at Sea Ink on Morska St who showed us around (higly recommend tattooist). The apartment owner is athoughtful and helpful person constantly keeping in touch in response to my numerous queries as this was a last minute booking, and her mother a darling (and who communicated really well despite the minimal Engligh!). I only chose this because of the previous reviews. Photos do not do apartment justice. We would definitely stay here again.

"excellent base for sightseeing"
all amenities within 2 min walking distance. The key holder is a very nice lady but she does not speak English. If you need any information you have to contact the owner, who lives in Ireland. Downstairs in the building the is a very well provided grocery shop where you can get very good beer - 80 cents per can!!
