Quietly nestled in the Andalusian hills near the village of Gaucin, this beautiful contemporary villa offers fabulous views across the surrounding countryside. Perched spectacularly 600 metres above sea level, the historic village of Gaucin is a tangle of medieval streets, white-washed houses and flower-filled patios. Set against the backdrop of the Serrania de Ronda the views from the village, it provides visitors with everything they may need, from shops and services to good restaurants and classic tabernas. The beautiful Castillo del Aguila (Eagle's Castle) dates back to Roman times, and is a venue for occasional flamenco and classical music concerts, as is the nearby convent. The surrounding area is a paradise for nature lovers, with an abundance of good trails suitable for both walking and cycling. The property is situated just an hour's drive from the coast, but it should be noted that a 4x4 vehicle would be suitable (although not essential) for tackling the mountain roads. The villa itself is modern, spacious and stylish, and provides guests with all modern comforts and luxuries in a traditional Andalusian setting. The focal point of the house is the beautiful open-plan living and dining room ? an impressive space that cleverly brings the outdoors inside via enormous floor-to-ceiling glass windows that make the separation between the interior and exterior of the property minimal. The brand new and fully-equipped kitchen is exceptionally large, with a breakfast bar in the middle and windows at both ends of the space. Each of the five bedrooms is in keeping with the rest of the house. Decorated in a cool, clean palette, and with an emphasis on space and light, they are stylish yet comfortable, many of them giving those great views out to the hills. The master bedroom is particularly impressive, with its own private terrace, dressing room, and beautiful double bathroom with window-side bathtub. There is a separate sitting room on the first floor, perfect as a children?s play room or for watching movies. The basement is home to the heated indoor swimming pool and games room, and gives access to the outdoor terrace and garden. With over 7000 square metres of private space, the exterior of the property is just as impressive as the interior. With sun-loungers, a dining table and a chill-out area, the main terrace is the ideal place to spend lazy days, whilst another smaller terrace on the first floor provides a more intimate setting. Surrounded by wild orchids, olive groves and almond blossoms and with a spectacular location on the edge of one of Malaga?s prettiest villages, this gorgeous villa is a great option for those looking for a bit of luxury in the Andalusian hills.

The Andalucia region

With a perfect Mediterranean climate and more than 300 days of sun a year, the region of Malaga is one of the most visited areas in the whole of Spain. From soaring mountains in the east, to secluded bays and huge stretches of sandy beach along the famous Costa del Sol, Malaga is unique in its diversity. Malaga city has embraced tourism with open arms, and the result is a lively and cosmopolitan city with a vibrant and glamourous social scene. More than 3000 years of history is reflected in the city?s rich artistic and cultural features and traditions, from the beautiful Roman theatre to the vibrant Catholic fiestas and delicious Moorish-inspired food. The grand Cathedral contains elements of Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-classical styles, whilst the 11th Century Alcazaba fort offers spectacular views across the city and the port.

Away from the capital, the region has a wide selection of resorts and towns for visitors to explore. Bursting with top restaurants and stylish bars is the exclusive Marbella, where fishermen rub shoulders with millionaires and the Puerto Banus harbour plays host to some of the world?s most expensive yachts throughout the year. Or there is laid-back Estepona, nestled between the mountains and the sea, and one of the Costa del Sol?s true gems. With an elegant marina, a charming town centre and medieval castle, Estepona sits at the bottom of a fir-covered mountain range. For nature lovers there is the Selwo park. One of a kind in Europe and with more than 100 hectares of land, and animals from more than five continents, it offers visitors a truly unique safari experience. Further inland is the ancient city of Ronda, which is situated above the beautiful valley of the River Guadeleve, and is said to be the spot where the modern form of bull-fighting on foot was born. Whether you are looking to dine in some of southern Spain?s most sophisticated restaurants, relax on one of the coast?s many beaches or explore the ancient villages, Malaga offers something for everyone.
