The Cumbria/Lake District

The Yorkshire Dales is home to over 1,500 square kilometres of the renowned Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is characterised by its unspoilt Dales villages, patchwork of dry stone walls and stunning fells and dales countryside. Visitors are able to travel for miles along quiet country roads, surrounded by magnificent views in every direction; an area dotted with ancient farming communities and rural villages which is typical of this region. This area is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday away from all the stresses and strains of day to day life, where you rediscover a gentler pace of life. It's also great for enjoying a whole host of outdoor pursuits including some of the very best walks in the UK.
The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

The picturesque dales village of Garsdale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park sits between the popular towns of Sedbergh and Hawes, making the location ideal for exploring both Wensleydale and Cumbria. Ing Heads enjoys a magnificent countryside setting outside the village of Garsdale, just one mile from Garsdale Station on the Settle to Carlisle railway. An ideal way to explore the area. The traditional market town of Hawes is just 7 miles away and offers a good mix of tearooms, restaurants, boutiques and convenience stores. Visitors may wish to visit the Wensleydale Creamery (home of Wensleydale Cheese), and perhaps sample this Yorkshire treat! The area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists, or for those who may simply wish to sit back and enjoy the stunning Yorkshire or Cumbrian countryside. Sedbergh, the largest town in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, (although actually in Cumbria), is just eight miles away. This charming town is full of character and much of the High Street has been designated a ‘Conservation Area'. Visitors are sure to enjoy the splendor of this delightful town. However, once arriving at Ing Heads, you may never wish to leave!
