Home description

The name of the inn derives from the valley housing it. According to the legend, in the past some people settled not far from the abbey of Santa Maria di Kàlena (one of the most ancient in Italy, 872).The "castellana" was the lady of the castle, of which nothing remains today. She died throwing herself from the tower, after her partner had died during the Crusades.

The inn is situated among the hills of the giant Gargano. Dry-stone walls, lemons, figs, prickly pears, olive trees and pines form its background, exalted by the breeze coming from the sea, a panorama which alone would be worth a stay of a couple of days. It represents a safe, pleasant, and regenerating departure point to discover the promontory, its gorges, beaches, woods, and sanctuaries. "La Castellana" is a holiday farm, only 1 Km far from the town centre of Peschici and 1,5 Km far from the sea.

Extra-virgin olive oil, wine, fruit, and vegetables are produced and offered to the guests during the simple candlelight dinners in the large terrace overlooking the sea. The breakfast, offered until late in the morning, meets the needs of all the clients: warm croissants, cold cuts, local cheese, home-made cakes and jams, fruit. Overnight stay and breakfast (B&B) is offered in different kinds of rooms and flats as the best solution also for families loving a comfortable flat with kitchenette and a hotel-like stay.

The restaurant is also at the disposal of the idle tourist for typical and not expensive dinners, to spend the evening chatting until late at night, sipping a fine wine near the swimming-pool. We speak English, German, and French. A homely and informal atmosphere without neglecting comfort, freedom and the quality of our Italian service.

The Puglia/Molise region

The territory of the Daunia and the Gargano introduces a great variety of sceneries: the sweet hills of the valley of the river Fortore, of the Subappennino Dauno and of the valley of the river Ofanto, the area of the National Park of the Gargano, the lowland of the Tavoliere of the Puglies and the uncontaminated archipelago of the Tremblings.

Gargano / Peschici area

The name Peschici, however `, and ` very probably of Slavic origin, because ` the origins go up again to the people of the Schiavonis, called by the emperor Ottone I to free the Gargano from the Saracens.

How to get there

By train: The station of San Severo (about 90 km from Peschici) is connected with Ferrovie del Gargano, a little train that arrive in the territory of Peschici. This company has many buses that leave from the principal Italian City.
By plane: Mostly Bari or Pescara. Than is useful rent a car.
By Car:Highway A/14 Pescara – Bari / Bari – Pescara: at least 2 hours from Pescara or Bari and take the exit POGGIO IMPERIALE and take Motorway “Super Strada del Gargano” to Peschici through Rodi Garganico or also Vico Garganico. From here take the coast road to Peschici, then before reach Peschici you will be near to the bay and you will see the first hotel. After petrol station ESSO also 50 meter take the little road on the right after 500 meter you will see a ancient abbey on the left take that road and at the end you'll cross a roundabout afte 100 meters you'll see us on the right.

Euro 30,00 debited for of cancellation in any case (shipment discount or money order).
In the case of cancellation before 30 days from its arrival it will come to them sent the entire amount less banking expenses or of commission of credit card (3%).
Cancellation between the thirtieth and sixteenth day before the arrival comes to them sent 50% of the total of the account. Cancellation between the fifteenth and 1 day before the arrival will come withheld the entire amount of its account.
